Got pk'd recently for the first time and was wondering on how its avoidable, i tried to warp but prolly that was the first thing they disabled, is there any way out of a 10vs1 situation gate camp?

with the now gate to gate warping it is harder for them to get you. but if they have a bubble up then you will get cought in that and can only try to fly out of the bubble to warp to a planet or something. then if they have scramblers fitted your messed up again. to be honest if it is a 10 man camp you will be lucky at any time to get out of it. i personaly select an item like a planet and keep clicking warp to and then hope for the best

1. Don't enter the gate camp is the best way. The way is to read the map, to scout ahead, or to ask in your corp/alliance intel channel. Prior to entering, disable effects and sound.
2. Other than that, if you are in a very agile ship, warp to something that is straight ahead. If you are in a warp disruption bubble, well.. you should have read #1.
3. If you are not in a bubble, spamming the warp button might save your pod.

Prevention: you watch the map and avoid systems where ships have been killed in the last 30 min. Either low sec, or if you're at war with someone, high sec too. You also get someone to act as a "scout" for you, flying 1-2 jumps ahead of you in an expendable frigate; if he gets killed, you and your valuable cargo dock to a station and plot another route.
A gate camp will warp scramble you, so you need warp core stabilizers to withstand the scrambling. You also need a more agile ship so it turns and goes to warp faster, and you need to use the warp-to-0 option as much as possible. More armor or shields won't prevent death if you're stuck/scrambled, but if you can survive a few extra seconds to align and go to warp, it's good too.

Gate camps are the single reason lots of players never venture to deep space :).
I just ran through one for the first time, and we did it by sheer numbers. Only one of us lost their ship, the others made it through.
However, some of the pirates chased me about 4 or 5 more jumps in, trying to scram me and whatnot. They finally gave up.
Now I'm stuck there, and don't want to take a chance coming back. There's *always* people camping the bottleneck. It's so stupid, when you think about it. I still can't believe that the developers haven't found a way to fix that, like simply putting in more gates into 0.0. Meanwhile, most timid players (i.e. the majority) simply never go there, and the pirates whine that there aren't enough suckers to prey on :)

I agree, gate camping sucks. It's the reason I left eve 6 months ago. (Of course I came back... :)

very timely subject for me.
Bought something in Seylin (.4) Went to pick it up in my new Myrmidon.
It was the first time I didn't check my route out.
Got scrammed right when I got thru the gate and a Myrmidon, Drake, Dom. and a Prophecy proceeded to obliterate me.
Managed to escape in my pod.
The 3 times I have gotten "caught" were the three times I wasn't paying attention and I got complacent.
I'm going to start fitting properly for travel and ALWAYS check my route for "ships destroyed"
never let your guard down/
never get complacent.
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS double check your route out.

There's never *always* people camping choke-points. Sneaking through just before or after downtime is usually completely safe if you really can't get through any other way.
Otherwise good advise is to check the map for ships killed, players in space and jumps in the last hour. That should usually give you a good idea if a gate's camped. Also if you're warping to a gate you think is camped (i.e not jumping into one) scan the gate first from a nearby celestial object and if needed warp in at 100km to check for bubbles. If you need to jump into a system you think is camped then get someone to scout ahead for you with a cheap ship, or even use an alt to do it. --------------

If your item fits in a shuttle, fly a shuttle. When agility skills are maxed, a shuttle is nearly impossible to catch without a warp disruption bubble.

1. Map. Learn to read it.
2. Scout ahead. For example due to stupidity I had to pick up 24 million of stuff in .3 space and having to move through 4 <.5 spaces. I stopped my industrial before the first one, got a shuttle and ran the last bit.
Each zone, I made a note of the total people there. Checked their icons. and noted what was at each gate. Then headed back. Once it was safe to do so headed out in the industrial and made it safely. In the station made a note of who was in the system and ran for it.
3. 10 man gate camp your more then likely not able to escape it. If you are aware of such a camp in the system you are in then options.
- Warp into location at 100km. Get a quick look at whats there and warp out.
- While warping make multiple bookmarks if your unable to dock.
4. Some gate campers are stupid. I should point out that the majority are not but some are very stupid and fall for stupid stuff. Some tricks I have tried and suceeded (not always though).
- Asked a question like "I'm in Asteroid Field ... and there are some rats here. Can someone come remove them as I don't want to loose my .... ".
- Another question like "I heard there is a gate camp on gate X. Before I warp there can anyone confirm". Then I warp off to the other gate I want to leave by.
- Take a note of the corp and people who are in it. Sometimes pretending to know someone in the corp or their friends they let you by. In some cases you can even find the info online.
