I miss the escrow system. Why doesnt the contract system list the description of a contract. It seems the only way to find out the contents of a multiple item exchange is to actually open it :s Or am i missing something?
The current system seems really difficult to use :/
ANyone else feel the same?

I am no scammer, and I dont think that comment was justified. I want to buy my character a slave set and it is proving rather difficult :s Because the exchange/auction would contain multiple items that is how it is listed. If the contract included the description I wouldnt need to go and check everyone... that is unless I am missing something really obvious which is quite possible

I have not really played around with contracts that much, but afaik, there is no way to look for specific items. Such as, if I'm looking for a Raven BPC, I have to look through tons of contract.
If anyone knows way around this, LMK

People have the option to set a description, if they don't they must not want to sell very much.

You can search for a specific item easily enough but the problem arises with multiple item contracts. And FYI even if the person sets a description it doesnt show up in the "Simple View" setting; which is as near to the old escrow system as it gets.
Oh well will just have to live with it.

bringing back escrow has my vote. good thing about escrow was u could see everything on it without having to search the map for the regions and get all available items on sale, even when u do enter the region and a description of the said item it doesnt always show up til you are in that system which kinda defeats the purpose. they could have easily fixed the original escrow by linking the said items to be sold directly with the item database therefore u prevent scammers placing false listings like a shuttle listed as a faction bs for example.
contracts system suxx just my personal view

Edited by: Shirei on 18/12/2006 02:06:02 The new contracts UI isn't that bad, all it would need are 3 things:
- an option to search for groups of items rather than just 1 individual items (so you could for example display all implants, scramblers, blueprints etc.) - an option to search for specific items or do other restrictive searches across regions (browsing everything across regions would probably lag too much) - sorting should happen before the results are split up into multiple pages

QFT. And before someone says that's just Jita, we ain't talking about just Jita. Hubs of every region are getting lame. --------- Gallente need ONE ship with an ecm bonus option. JUST ONE. |

I agree with you Deja. Today, I was wondering how someone would find my multiple item contracts with its generic title. I have discovered (after previously deleting a longer post) that a buyer will be able to find such contracts, as the search query will search for the actual items within the contract and not by title alone. I hope this adds some confidence and security with the contract system.

@OP: Helpful note. When you select the "simple" view, the description text for each item pops up when you mouse over it. You need to mouse over them quite slowly if you're on a laggy node.
I have found searching by "title" is often best for groups of item types. Of course, this relies upon sellers putting the full name of the item(s) they're selling in the description/title field. Few sellers seem to realise how important this field is to buyers who are searching for specific items.

Please try to use contract system before posting such posts. If user enters description it'll be displayed.
Contracts are so much better then old escrow so i'm surprised that such appear from time to time. Even scammers are disappointed, but even for them there are few tricks.

I take it you obviously have a different opinion but you know that for most of us, the contracts system is just crap and stops us from trading more than it helps us. But you don't have any arguments supporting your opinion. :-)

Hubs getting over-crowded is purely a player-created problem.
Why must you put an item up for sale in Jita... why not in a system 1-2 jumps away from Jita. The net result of this is still being able to find Items when you search for contracts in The Forge, they would be spread out over several systems in close proximity. Jita would simply be one system in a hub of several systems.

It's easier to search for a specific item in your region. It's easier to buy/sell blueprints because the ME/PE/original status is displayed on the contract. The auctions seem to work.
On the other hand, it doesn't make efficient use of screen space, searching for lots of different types of implants sucks, the regional limitation sucks, and the limit on outstanding contracts is a serious problem for BPC sellers.
(The latter could be fixed with an "auto-re-contract" option: if this contract completes automatically submit another one with the same specifications...)

The only real issue I have with the contract system is that I can never find contracts issued to me, and I know I'm not the only one. So, a tip for those that make a lot of private contracts - evemail the contract link to the person. Not only does this get around the problem, but it also makes it real quick to track down that contract for the buyer.
