Hey all, I am thinking about getting a second account. What I really am interested in doing, is going for the biggest/fastest miner available, with a huge cargo transporting ship so I can sit at an asteroid belt, and just mine for a few hours at a time without having to go back and forth.
What im looking for are suggestions on a combo. I have a Gillante*spelling* miner/prospector already, and I need to know what class to make for the transporter. I havent played for about a year and a half, so things are new again to me.
Any suggestions would be nice.

A particular race doesn't matter as much as attributes do. If you're looking to fly freighters and the like quickly, create an alt with a lot of Perception and Willpower.
Amarr Khanid have an extreme amount of perception, just as a suggetion.

to date, the gallente iteron V is still the largest of the tech I haulers. with 5 cargo expander II, it reaches 25270m¦
alas, thats 1024000SP just for the gallente industrial skill

gallente, train for iteron 5, tech 2 cargo rigs, and expanded cargohold 2's
that's 41k cargo right there.

Now am i correct in assuming that a Mining barge is the best at mining?

Once you get past the first barge, yes they are really good. Stick with cruiser mining until you can fly retriever from my experience.

I run the 2 account set up for mineing and love it. I run 2 accounts both in covetors (because hulks too damn exspensive). Ill mine for about an hour with the 2 ships which i usually fill 3 and half floating cans of 27.5 m3 cargo. I then switch my alt to his Iteron 5 and haul it all into station. Now im not sure what expanders there using on there Iterons in the above posts but i have 5 21% expanders and am currently running 21,453 cargo space on my iteron 5. the higher % expanders not worth the cost VS makeing 1 more trip with my ship. Using this set up ive stripped entire astroid belts in the system i live in, in just under 3 and half hours.
Some tips ill give ya is only train in refineing on 1 account the main one. dont waste time for alt account. no point in it. get refineing to 5 and refine efficiency to 4 min and youll have almost zero waste for refine. Another good skill to get if your gona mine with both accounts like i do is Mineing Forman. It will take you about 2 months to get to this set up. On the alt account for the purpose of getting into iteron 5 faster go with Perception skills to up it to lower training time on ships.
My current skills for doing what your trying to do are as follows
Main account
Mineing 5
refine 5
refine efficiency 5
mineing forman 5
veld, scord, pyrox, plagio, kernit, omber processing all at 4, all others at 3
Astrology 5
industry 5
Metalurgy 5
Mineing barge 5
deep core mineing 4
second account
Mineing 5
astrology 5
industry 5
metalurgy 5
Mineing barge 5
Galentene industrial 5
Might be missing a couple thats just off top of my head. One other side note for protection while mineing i Have Drones level 5 and various other drone skills to defend against belt rats.
