Ships come in racial flavours in eve, every race has different preference for weapon types on their ships. Minmatar primarily use projectile guns, with some missiles added in. If you want to fly ships which have missiles as primary weapon you dont have much chance but to train caladari ships im afraid. Dark-Rising |

The minmaters uses projectile guns as their primiary weapon, and missiles as secondary, often both on a same ship due to the slot layout. This makes minmater ships one of the more skill intensive race to specialize in... Having said that, I would focus on gunnery skills first if I were to specialize in minmater, Caldari are the ones that specializes missiles. Not saying that minmater dosnt use missiles, and having a good set of missile skills would no doubt help minmater a lot as well.

tnx for all the answers :) now for the nOOb question. Can I just go and buy Caadari frigate/cruiser skills and train them (while being minmater) of origin/birth? Will I lose standing with my minmater agents while learning caldari skills/flying in caldari ship?
Best regards /Kikko

You can train for any ship in the game, regardless of your race. You can mission with any ship and it won't affect your agent standings as such.
So yes, you just need to go out and buy the skillbooks. This is one of the great things about EVE. -Wrayeth "Look, pa! I just contributed absolutely nothing to this thread!"

If you really like missiles I would suggest you start training for Caldari-ships, as you are only 4 days old you will not have "wasted" much training.

I am Gallente by birth but mostly fly Minmatar and Caldari ships (with a few Amarr for good measure - strangely enough the only ships I tend not to fly are Gallente ones).
For PVP I am working on my Hurricane - although I did lose one in 0.0 yesterday to 2 cammand ships, blew up their scout tho. For PvE, Raven, Drake and Ferox work well.
Flying Minmatar AND Caldari is a bit skill intensive but is a nice combination and gives lots of flexibility. Flying Amarr becomes an interesting option as autocannons work really well on many of their ships.

i have specilised mainly in gallente ships note that im gallente << but only just started training up for minmatar and amarrian ships of cruiser sizd as well as basic missile skills.
minmatar are a very skill intensive race. there ships use both missiles and projectiles. ships can ether shild tank or armour tank all there ships requre good navagation skills most of there ships have fairly decent drone bays
so missles, projectiles, shilds, armour and drones
while caldari its only missiles and shilds whilst with ammar and gallente its with armour and turrets
while minmatar may not be so good with all of there weapons they make up for those flaws by being unpredictable.
minmatar ships are very easy to modyfy to take out any target you want. and with wepons that do all types of damage types in eve. what more do you want

No offence darknar, But do the names Merlin Cormorant Ferox and Rokh, mean anything to you? ..... Those would be Caldari ships which mainly use or are specifically for Railguns
And Griffin, Blackbird & Scorpion, those would be caldari e-war boats. So its not all Missiles and Shields
As for gallente they use as much drones as they do guns, its probably worth mentioning that since the Op's new

Edited by: Atius Tirawa on 18/12/2006 14:22:46 Its been said before, so I will just repeat a lot of what has been said: Missles = Caldari. In many ways, caldari have really great ships across the board. They have nice Railgun ships which end with the Rokh. They have really great Electronic Warfare ships which end with the Scorpion, and they have the absolute best in missle boats from the Kestrel frigate all the way to the Raven battleship, Pheonix Dreadnaught and so fourth. If you like missles - then train Caldari. Your race is simply the picture you look like at a certain level. You can train any ship of any race in this game as any race. So if its caldari ships you like, then train caldari. Many of the skills overlap anyway - so don't worry, no skill is a waste, just work towards the ship you like the most, train the skill you need for that ship and repeat the process when you decide you want to fly something else. If you are comfortable in the ships you fly, then train learning, science, trade, industry skills.
Finally, don't forget to train the secondary skills for missles (in this case) - things like warhead upgrades, missle bonbardment, target navigation and such may seem time consuming, but it is these skills that make a missle boat good or simpl outstanding. The same applies for gunnery skills and whatnot.
welcome to eve
You may also consider rerolling a cladari character. The new character creation method can get you started with quite high missle and cladari ship skills like frigate and shield skills. I know its been 4 days, but on many levels, 4 days is small, and you can hop into a very decent Caracal in a day if you pick the right backgrounds. Finally, the Achura (sp) are a really strong race in many respects - you may actually get a stronger toon if you roll one. . . but thats my suggestion.

I suggest you build another Caldari character since you may have 800k missile-related skill at birth. And Caldari has the best bloodline for long-term player IMO.
