What I have been running EVE off until now (please don't laugh) AMD Athlon XP1600+ 1.5GB PC3200 RAM GeForce 6300NX The parts I have picked: Mobo: ABIT KN9, nForce4-Ultra, Socket-AM2, PCI-Ex16 CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.2GHz Socket AM2, 1MB, BOXED RAM: Crucial DDR2 PC5300 1024MB CL5 - Kit w/two matched DDR2 PC5300 512MB CL5 VGA: XFX GeForce 7300GS 256MB DDR2, 550Mhz, PCI-Express, DVI-I/Tv-Out, Retail HD: Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM Any thoughts and comments on things I might concider changing? I'm on kind of a budget, and these parts will run me about $950, but can if needed throw in at most another $100 or so. --- We are Recruiting!

Dosent cost a whole lot Bump it up to a 7800GT if you can, if the price jump isnt that bad. And yeah, if you can, bump the RAM up to 2GB. We're talking about EVE here. Oh also, note that EVE currently has issues with multi-core systems sometimes, be warned.

Think I'll manage with the 7600 (costs me $150) for now and buy a 8800 later on, plus some extra ram. Should still be a vast improvement over my current rig :p --- We are Recruiting!

Imo I would spent a liiiiittle bit more and get the 7900GS, Gainward Golden Sample VGA if you can. Have a case in mind? Go for a Intel E6300 then, will cost 1550 NOK or so which is only a slight bit over your own AMD pick. And while the cold stats might appear to favour AMD, Intel processors of comparable pricing will outperform AMD dualcores in all sorts of performance tests and benchmarks. I understand your reluctance, since AMD has been the better brand for a long time now, but with the dualcore technology your best value for money is with Intel. -----
