Been reading a lot about exploits on the forums recently, and just have one thing to say on the subject. If its in the game it IS the game.
Players will always play a game in ways the devs have not intended, you can't penalise people for that. Where is the line between cunning tactic and exploit? There isnt one, theres just a game that is unbalanced and thats something the devs need to sort out. You cant threaten people with banning just because they ve discovered something that gives them an advantage. If people dont try new things the game would be extremely lame.

No it isn't, and yes they can. It doesn't matter a fart in a hurricane what you think; this isn't your game. If CCP don't want you to play in ways they didn't intend, they have an absolute right to stop you and/or terminate your account if they so please.

I disagree. If players find ways of using modules or the rules of the game to their advantage, then thats a good thing. If CCP deem that said use is unbalancing the game, then they should remove the functionality that has allowed the "exploit" to happen. Patches should be frequent and small to allow this kind of thing to happen quickly and enchance the game for everyone. Rather than coming down hard on people who have discovered something which works for them.

It means that your character has never posted on the forums before. It is usually the sign of an experienced player unwilling to post something with their real names, sometimes because they will be taken less seriously, sometimes because they are flaming someone and don't want to be KOS to them.
I posted what I did because any forum-noob posting about how exploits aren't really so bad, I always wonder what exploits their main is using or has been accused of...
May not apply to you, if not sorry. But posting self-interested or flame opinions with exclamation mark characters has got downright tiresome recently.

Im not saying that people playing eve havent found ways to exploit the game to their advantage to the detriment of others, of course they have and always will. All im saying is that thats par for the course, my arguement is that these "exploits" as long as they are in the game ARE the game. One mans tactic is another mans exploit. Its up to CCP to remove the "exploit" from the game not to penalise individual players.
And i haven t been accused of anything, Its just a thought i had.

I couldn't find anything in the EULA about cheating, exploiting, or bugs for that matter.
But I do believe that distributing exploits to other players is a ban-able offense. I have been told more than once by the GM's, not to publicly display exploit information to other players. I'm only aloud to file exploit petitions, and public display can get me banned.
Incase your wondering.. I'm the kind of guy that wants every player to know how to use the exploits.. This makes it a bug.. You can not exploit a bug when everyone knows how to do it. But like I said.. I'm not aloud to talk about them. So I do the next best thing, I file exploit petitions over and over tell they get fixed.
A real gamer would file an exploit petition right after finding a bug of this nature. A cheater would use it to their advantage. A cheater would get a laugh out of using said exploits on other players. A cheater would distribute that info to their corp mates. And if their corp mates were cheaters too they would continue on that path.
Dunno though.

Using exploits to "win" at Eve is incredibly lame.
People caught exploiting should be banned permanently or lose 50% of their skill points across all characters on that account.

its sometimes hard to tell an exploit from an imbalance. and yes, CCP should be more agressive on patching all the unbalances that cause people trouble, and allow others to abuse it (lag spawn camping anyone?)
Its not good to say its CCP's fault for not fixing it, and say is perfectly legit to do it, but its both parties faults. CCP for not fixing it, and players for abusing it.

Sorry, but some exploits are absolutely NOT valid "tactics". Some of the ones I've heard of that have been fixed:
- Causing other players to crash to desktop at will
- duplicating items, allowing unlimited megacyte, etc...
- deploying so many cans (literally hundreds) that people jumping into a blockade would be killed before they could load (even if they had a $4,000 computer and a direct T3 connection)
- the ability to steal a blueprint from a hangar you only have view access to using a lab or factory (don't know which)
All of these were fixed. Some of them (especially the duplicating) resulted in bans. We can argue all day about drones or mines lagging jump-ins and so on, but there is no WAY you can defend duplicating or intentionally crashing someone's client as valid play. Or if you CAN somehow justify it, kindly go play Diablo 2 with all the other cheaters...
