I was thinking of getting the Dell 2407 but it justs costs too much even on sale! So I think I'm going settle for the Gateway FPD2185W can anyone recommend this? It seems to be a nice monitor and I can also plug the xbox 360 into it.
What monitors are you using and are you happy with them?

I'm using a Samsung SyncMaster 959NF.
It was one of the best CRTs you could but when I bought it, but I wouldn't buy a CRT nowadays. Other than that it's quite nice.

On the left is my main monitor, a Samsung SyncMaster 205BW, and on the right an LG Flatron L1811S.
The Samsung is great, I run EVE in a window at 1440 x 900, but at the full resolution of 1650 x 1080 it looks so sweet. The LG is an old monitor but its great for running my alt or viewing the web when playing EVE. _______________________________

A 15" Proview TFT monitor. I wouldn't recommend that you buy one (not because it's bad, it has served me very well, it's just too small for EVE really - max resolution is 1024x768). ~

I have a Compaq s900 19" tube, and a Samsung SyncMaster 172n 17" LCD.

Compaq P1210. Old, and has a defect whereby the brightness and color go after a few years, but my graphics card can compensate. But it's aperture grille (which is something to brag about regardless of whether it's actually better), true flat, and happily displays Eve at 2048x1536.
Also, you can get them dirt cheap because they are old ... in England. I just looked it up on ebay, I could get a second if I was over there to pick it up
I originally ordered 2 but the second was a less uber model so I sold in on and have been living with the horror of only 1 of these glorious devices. I must find a way to get another.....
But I'm rambling ----------

Mitsubishi Daimond Pro 2045. true 22inch flat CRT.
it's the most gorgeous, high-res monitor for design work I could ever dream for. runs eve at 1600x1200, and used for 3d modelling at ohmygodwheresthecursor res with a good refresh rate.
it does however, mean that I have a desk setup with my chest of drawers placed behind the desk, and the monitor on top of that, instead of the desk... because it's so bloomin' huge that it takes up the entire desk... and it weight about 20 kilos.
TFT flatscreens are definately a godsend for transport and weight.

A nice (but pretty old) iiyama VisionMaster Pro 454...
19" CRT, that supports up to 2048x1536 @ 72Hz, but I'm slumming it in 1600x1200 @ 85Hz!

Edited by: Benco97 on 19/12/2006 01:59:10 I've got one "Acer AC713" (Mon 1 located directly ahead of me, used for full screen gaming/browsing), One "Daewoo 431XN" (Mon 2 located on the far right of my desk, used for Music programs, messengers, downloads and other such stuff) and one "Goldstar 1527" (Mon 3 located above and to my left, mounted on the wall with a bracket. Used for System diagnostics I.E "completely useless") Yes, all my screens are CRT, Yes, they are all old, Yes, the Goldstar is older than the average WoW player age and no, I do not intend on changing any of them any time soon.

I thought the monitor was one of the most important parts of a pc especially a gaming one. There is no point in upgrading your pc if you only have crappy monitors to display your games. Come on people treat yourself to a brand new monitor! |

My Compaq 19" has outlasted 3 PCs so far. I always mean to replace it when I start upgrading but never get round to it.
