I heard that drone skills like Scout Drone Operation, Drone Navigation, and Drone Interfacing do nothing for fighters. The only skill that improves fighters is the fighter skill itself. If this is true I might as well train some advanced guns over drone skills while I accumulate wealth enough to get a carrier. Do fighters only benefit from the fighter skill and no other? Thanks in advance!

In the interest of being a technical jackass, I have to point out that fighters are also affected by your level of skill in Gallente Carrier if you're flying a Thanatos.
But otherwise, yes, fighters are only affected by the Fighters skill.

However, you will find that you'll be using drones as well.

The guy controlling the fighters (often not the carrier pilot) has how many fighters he can be assigned limited by his own drones skill, and how far they can be engaged from limited by his own drone control range. ---

Why would I bother to use drones when I would have fighters at my disposal?

Because drones can hit small things. Fighters cannot.

I noticed something weird though with the ECM drones, the light ones (hornets) should have a supposed range of 3000m with the EW drone interfacing at lvl one yet they will attack at 20+ ?
(at least, that is following the rule that each drone only gets bonuses from that drone class' skills)

the ew drone skill affects the control range of ALL drones and nothing else -----------------------------

so they would get the basic distance + 3000m per level of EW drone interfacing?

Is there any way to read your control range without fitting a sensor booster and telling your drones to go attack something way too far away?

Not really, but you CAN calculate your way to it...
EW Drone skill = +3km per level, max of 15km. Scout Drone Operation = +5km per level, max of 25. Those two combined is 40km. Then there is your base skill of.... I believe, 20km? That brings a maximum range to 60km. Now all you need to do is count the levels of those two skills and add it up.
If you're flying a ship that gives extra range, then you of course have to add that as well. The carriers and motherships all give 200% extra range TO FIGHTERS. Not sure if that goes for drones as well, so let's just say they don't. In that case, it is 60km for drones and 180km for fighters. Reduce as needed if you do not have level 5 in both skills...

I believe that the bonus also affects the drones because the carriers description says "1 more fighter per lvl" and i can deploy 8 ogres... -----------------------------
