Ok, I was just wondering if it would be possible that CCP would ever patch EVE that would add a feature in the options menu that allows you to pilot your ship with a joystick? lol that would add to the excitment of the game a bit... for me at least

This is an old chestnut
If you look in background/stories at "Wet Grave" it gives you the reason why FP isn't supported.
From a gameplay point of view, Eve isn't a FPS but more a tactical sim, so I doubt if it will ever happen.

Read somewhere about a "chase" cam that migth get implemented. My guess is that such a feature would give more of a feeling that u actually are piloting the ship.
However, havent got a clue if it ever will be implemented. |

Problem with joystick control is it would have to update your position a certain amount of times per second. And since this is an MMO, it's not only a bottleneck for your connection, but it increases the load on the server.
With 5000+ people logged on during the weekend, that is 2 times as many as any other MMO's shards can handle. If anybody here has played E&B during peak times, you'll know what I mean, it's almost impossible to enjoy yourself because the only way to move around is using your arrow keys... and the server constantly resets your position to compensate for network lag.

Nay, i doubt this will happen. as mentioned, its more of a tactical sim than a FPS.

eh, yea, i guess it wouldn't happen then. It would still be fun though

Remember, you are the captain, not the pilot. That's why the ship sometimes goes places you didn't want it to go. Just think of the captains of the different starships in Star Trek. Or the captain of the ships in Star Ship troopers. :)
