While i was very impressed when i reinstalled eve after downgrading to windows 10, and the install taking about 5 minutes, i have found that the expected pauses (while the client supplements its minimum load with more stuff as i use it), havent gone away to any real extent even after weeks of use.
Black screen when undocking lasts much longer than before, client freeze when opening market, client freeze when jumping into new ship and just generally a lot less fluid experience.
My PC runs on dual SSD in RAID0 so that i can minimise load times. Believe it or not, those SSD's are much faster than my weak ass internet connection but are redundant if im loading so much remotely.
Was wondering if the full client payload was still available? |

Yes, there is a check box in the options in the launcher called "download all the resource files".

Its only the 1st time the client has to download something that it is slow... every one says download all but why download 13gb+ when you only use 3-5
My cache folder is at 7 gb (23k files) after months of playing and going on test server and stuff and my rescache says i am missing 43k files out of like 63k files (i.e don't need) so why would i bother DLing 2/3 worth of stuff i don't ever use? |

My CCP folder was 270mb when i installed it. And it was 270mb weeks later.
Downloaded the whole client. Back to laggy EVE as usual, rather than laggier EVE.
EDIT and its still 270mb, looks like they changed the location of the bulk of the data. Still while eve is generally laggy, id rather take every step possible to reduce that lag. |

i am not on about the ccp folder i am on about the cache which will be on your c drive by default somewhere. |

Aye, theyve moved where they keep the files to the cache folder i guess. However, i didnt spend money on a decent PC to load anything from the net when i have 1GB/s drive to install games on (and a pretty slow internet) |

Well that's the whole point if you have slow net why download 13gb when you can download in little bits over the course of a week or a month? |

Because id rather know that every little bit of lag that happens is because EVE is aweful, not that im laging because my slow internet is doing the job that my SSDs should be doing.
Its only 6GB, and its done now. No more doubts. |
