(Long-winded, hopefully humorous, gratuitous self-promotion post follows)
It all happened so fast...
The plan was perfect and months in the making. I started Jerol in January of this year. Merrily, I got into a Rupture waaaay too early and dumped all the ISK I had into it about 10 days in... that was before an ill-fated meeting with Shamis Oroz and his band of merry men about 15 clicks from a gate I was lazily approaching in Amamake (thanks for the cheap lesson in Travel Tips 101, btw). But I digress (not bitter, though )
I got some RL friends to play and we lamely PvP'd in low sec for a few months as a part of the SWORN Corporation. I hit the doldrums and my little laptop just wasn't up to EVE-like gang battles, so I put the game away for 5 months...
November. Two words resurrected me: Falcon Northwest. I had new PC desktop karma and I came back to EVE. This time, though, I would research 0.0 corps and find a good one, give up my pitiful one-man corporation and join the "real" EVE out in 0.0 space.
I aimed high and chose The Priory -- an old and respected PvP corp. I liked a lot of their members' posts here. Sure, I wasn't the most experienced PvP'er -- but I have 8.5 Million SPs and I'm liquid (i.e. willing to lose ships for the "cause"). I was shocked when Waywatcher actually sent me an offer to join. I enthusiastically accepted and for the next 15 minutes I had the best time of my EVE life -- planning my trip to Litom, organizing my things Empire-side for easy retrieval, getting my sacrificial Rifter equipped for my first foray into a 0.0 warzone. I went to sleep that night and dreams of fleet battles danced in my 44-year old head-- really.
Then... depression set in.![Embarassed](/images/icon_redface.gif)
The next morning, I decided to log in to do some maintenance before heading off to work. The Character Selection screen delivered the news: Member of the Sebestior Tribe for less than 1 day. Crestfallen, I coughed up the 100,000 ISK to send a lame eve-mail to Waywatcher asking for an explanation. His one-line reply spoke volumes:
"Lack of participation in corporate activities and gangs."
A few days later, I am off anti-depressants and have perspective: What was I thinking joining a PvP-savvy corp of dyed-in-the-wool killers who were recently embroiled in an all-out Alliance war? What were THEY thinking actually accepting an 8.5 mil SP 0.0 noob (or "gang-anchor" as I like to refer to myself...)?
Then, the worst part hit me: I have a resume blemish! I have to explain my 15 minutes in The Priory to EVERY prospective employer from here on out... It's like a defaulted loan on a credit application -- it ain't goin' away, ever.
Please don't get me wrong here: I blame no one for these events. The Priory are in a major shooting war and the last thing I would do as CEO is accept an unknown (relative) noob into the corp at this time. I suspect my dismissal has more to do with this than my lack of participation... But all the same, if you do have the honor of getting into The Priory, make sure you immediately participate -- you only have 15 minutes ![Very Happy](/images/icon_biggrin.gif)
Also -- who am I kidding here? I'm 44... I'm married with kids... I don't have 40+ hours of play time/week. I don't even speak "l33t" (though I can spell it ).
What's out there for someone in my shoes?
I fly AFs, Frigs, Cruisers and BCs (soon to be Inty's as well). BS training will be next.
I want a 0.0 based corp that actively PvPs and has a stable base of operations (i.e. a place I can safely log off).
I don't want to gank people in low sec (necessarily)and I would like to be able to keep a positive security status that allows me to go to Empire Space when necessary.
If I have to fly another mission or 'rat in a 0.2 system, I think I'm going to kill myself... seriously.
I just want to blow stuff up, really... ![Cool](/images/icon_cool.gif)
Is that asking so much?

Ummm he was kicked less than a day after joining and for inactivity and he is still not blaming them.
Are you serious sweetcakes?
Anyway this thread will be locked or transferred in a few minutes so meh... Arguably my opinions represent to an extent the opinions of my alliance and in particular circumstances give rise to a valid "casus belli" claim. |

... 8.5m SP and no Bship? Weird.
Anyhoo. Don't sweat it if you get booted from a corp for a moronic reason. People have this habit of being idiots sometimes... just find a new corp. People don't mind the quick hop if that's your only hop; they start to get worried if you've been in more corps than days you were playing, though ;)
As for battle, you don't NEED a corp to PvP. You need cohones and skill. Or luck. Preferably both. If you want thrilling fun, take a faster ship out to 0.0 (say, an inty or an AF) and start picking off haulers. If you get someone's attention, ask if they're hiring =P ----------------------------

I wasn't whining, Nicky. I hope I made that clear. And I certainly don't blame anyone in The Priory or have anything but positive feelings for the few folks there I spoke to. As I said above, they're in a war and the last thing they should be doing is taking on relative newbies. I understand their actions and I blame myself for not seeing the bigger picture when I applied.
I was retelling what I still think is a pretty funny story about a player's (mine) pathetic attempt to get into a 0.0 corp -- planned out to an anally compulsive level and resulting in humiliating (for me) failure. I bit off more than I could chew and am willing to laugh about it...
Guess I can cross LV off the potential alliance list as well... this isn't working out as well as I had hoped for, truth be told... ![Wink](/images/icon_wink.gif)

I have to admit, I haven't even seen you in corp-chat (15 minutes is not much tho), but I'm afraid you just fell victim to a recent cleansing in our corporation.
I'm not a recruiter so I wont promise that we'll let you back in, however you're welcome to try and get back in again (if not, just to be kicked after 15 minutes again... just for a laugh ofc) ![Wink](/images/icon_wink.gif) ____________

I recall the first PVP corp I joined (a small one with maybe 5 active people). Spent the first day creating bm's all around the home system and moving things in (none of them were online at the time). I get an eve-mail on my 3rd day telling me that all the active members have moved to a bigger corp, and do i want to be CEO of this one.
It was a laugh, and it actually helped me get into my next corp when I retold the story.

Let's see...
I went from being an ISS noob in one of the largest carebear corps in the game (Hi Praxis!), left them and joined a small low-sec pvp corp. Messed around with them, shoot the hell out of people in low sec for a while... and then started to get bored
So I joined Priory. I'm 23, have a fulltime job and a wife, and have been loving every minute of being here. Best PVP I've ever been in, and the best wingmen you could hope for :)
My story isn't that much different than yours, except for the happy ending.

I would look at it from a job interview perspective. Interviewers don't like to hear you paint your current/previous employer in a bad light, like you do in your post (that may not have been your intention, but that's how it came off). Also realize that in this section of the forums, when someone posts something about getting kicked from a corp and goes into the details, it is usually meant to start a flamefest.
And also, this probably belongs in the recruitment section or something =P.

Yep,
Got Minmatar BS and Lg Turret skills at level 1, so I didn't really count that as being competent. I have T2 gun skills up to BC thus far, so that's what I count for purposes of competence.
And I'll reiterate for posterity: The Priory was my first choice for a 0.0 corp and I have seen nothing from the conduct of any of its members to disuade me from that opinion. I just thought the story was humorous and that -- in the final analysis -- my timing simply was off.
Gusta suggested trying again after the war as well. And what the heck... it would be pretty hilarious if I got the boot again, tbh ![Embarassed](/images/icon_redface.gif)

Well thats an alt. You can train an alt for specialized pvp, but as a main and a first character its worth the week it takes to get into a BS just from an isk making standpoint.

there are lots of "fish" or in this case "corporations" in 0.0... and a lot of corporations in 0.0 recruit "newb" ppl... because those ppl also need to learn, it's an investment... and believe it or not, even a newb is valuble in a fleet fight... give him a frig, drop a scram and MWD on it... and send them to the enemy...
and all you tell them to do is : don't talk on ts, and scramble anyone possible... (i call them cannon fodder or meat shields)...
and eventually they'll become more skilled, more experienced... and eventually, they may even stop dieing every 3 seconds ;)...
so just look for another corp, or try to work it out again with Priory... =)
gl & hf
edit : i think it's smart that he doesn't train straight up to a 100mil+ ship with just minimum skills... without good skills, you'll just lose them... a lot...
edit 2 : forgot the "this is my personal oppinion, and does not represent the corporation i'm in nor the alliance i'm in..."-line

I'm sad that many of the posts were deleted by the mods... they made a cohesive whole.
Not sure how you could read my OP and not conclude I was joking... but that is the danger of the online world -- context is so easily missed.
I don't think it "sucks" that I got kicked... I actually find it amusing now, given the entire situation. I simply was trying to convey how focused I was on finding the perfect corp... and how I lost sight of the important fact that timing can be everything. The corp may still be perfect -- my timing wasn't.
I'll let you in on a secret: I'm 44 years old and I'm a trauma surgeon. I don't have stress or depression related to video games. I have stress and depression when people die under my care. If I want stress and depression, I go to work... for fun and recreation, I play EVE...
Good night, now!
