ok, so i heard someone claim that level 3s are more profitable than level 4s.

however, i have a hard time believing that?

how much isk/hr can you make running level 3s vs. level 4s?

level 4s earn more if youre in a ship worthy of level 4s. better rewards, more bounties, more LP, better storylines

Those that claim L3s are more profitable than L4s in isk/hr are right, but only in that they are ignoring the worth of the LP they gain. A mission runner's greatest source of ISK is LP. With each L4 mission I run [the hardest ones], I gain roughly 6m ISK rewards + up to 20m in bounties... but in LP I earn roughly 50-65m for the same mission, depending on what offer I accept first, not including the time required to transport my offers, roughly an hour's worth of work to get to Jita and put the goods up for sale then get back to my mission system.

For empire runners, the LP is worth a bit less, but it is still worth more than the raw ISK earned, especially with a much shorter trip to sell their goods than myself.

Given the speed an ease of L3s, sure they might be worth more in raw ISK, but why would you ignore the LP->ISK potential in L4s? I still haven't figured that one out. =)

PS: This is all assuming what the previous poster mentioned, you do need a good ship to turn a good profit with L4s... that is the only thing that can ever be a good reason to stick with L3s, but only temporarily.

If you struggle with L4's, then L3's might be giving you more return, simply on the speed that you can do them.

In raw isk/bounty/LP, Level 4 is vastly superior than Level 3. But if it is taking you hours to do a L4, and you can do 3-5 lvl 3 missions in that same timeframe, then Level 3 will be better for you.

I take into consideration the increased frequency of storyline missions and rewards, as you are getting 16 missions done much faster.

Most level 3s give 200-700k reward and 200-700k bonus. The "hardest" level 3s like the blockade give 4-6 million in bounties (but takes ~ an hour), the easier ones 1-3 million.

Level 3's in .5 systems with a good agent should be yielding you at LEAST 5 mil/hour or you're doing them very slowly. I personally generally average between 7 and 10 mil/hour, sometimes going much higher if I get good drops. 7 Mil is my minimum per hour accounting for no ISK worth of loot.

Of course you have to account for LP when calculating isk/hour. You can run level 3's much faster than level 4's... that means that even tho you get less ISK per mission you may get more per hour. Also, LP's are losing their value overall. Implants are worth half of what they were 6 months ago which is less than what they were worth 9 months ago.

Some people give numbers like 20-30 mil/hour on level 4's... but thats generally people in 0.0 space and it isn't realistic numbers, it was numbers based on getting the perfect missions, etc. It also generally included the drone mission that yielded a ton of Zyd.

It seems almost no level 4 mission runners actually know what they make per hour... this is generally because it's hard to run more than a few missions in a day for most people (since they take a while). Thus the ISK/Hour fluctuates greatly for level 4's. Only a really hardcore player who runs level 4's could give us a good number... someone who runs them for 8-12 hours/day and can average it out over a week long period or so.

On level 3's I've done this and I get at least 7 mil/hour.

People in low sec or 0.0 giving numbers are giving a false sense of profit to people as you get far less in .5 or greater space which is where 99% of mission runners are. So lets hear some numbers from .5 and greater level 4 runners about their isk/hour...

Well, I run missions in empire space 0.5 sec (surrounded by 0.5+ systems) using a Level IV Quality 13 agent.

I do not loot and I can run any Caldari Navy mission offered in under 1 hour except possibily Enemies Abound ... I always turn this one down because I like my faction.

On average I make about 16 mill per hour in bounties/rewards and I do not loot except for missions where the bounty is replaced by loot (drone). On average I make about 10k LP per hour.

600k LP nets me about 800 mill isk which means roughly 1200 isk per LP so another 12 mill in LP per hour.

So all in I make roughly 28 mill per hour running level 4 missions.

NOTE: This does not include story line mission rewards, mostly because they are so deflated that I just give them to people in my corp.

 In a .5 system with a -13 agent, I got from The Score (a medium hard/easy mission):

 bonus + rewards = 2.2 mil
 L.P's = 2427
 Bounties = 6 mil
Time for mission and pick-up loot/salvage approx 2 hrs
Time may be high as I tend to talk with corpmates while doing missions
Salvage and loot are not factored in.

This is very similar to what I make.

I fly a Dominix with fairly basic fittings, except for but a full tech 2 tank and maxed cap skills.

bounties and loot included I can see 5-7 mil an hour, but what are you rewards and bonus? on blockade I get 6 million bounties, but the reward is 700k, bonus 800k. lesser missions go down to 300k reward 300k bonus, and really stupidly bad missions like drop something off or kill 2 npcs go to 150k bonus + reward.

I can do a GE/AE (excluding bonus room) in about an hour or just under,

 thats 22mil-25mil + 8950lp

4 of these gets me over 30klp so thats 2*+3 implants

ofc I dont get 4 of those in a row but other lvl 4 missions tend to be high lp too and take less time to complete.

At my rate lvl 3 income is totally owned by what I get on lvl 4s

As a comparison, I did a lvl 3 Massive Attack last night in a .8 system. Fee and bonus totaled 1.25m, total bounties approx 3.5m, plus loot, and ~700LP. I got a lucky +3 per implant from the stash, but again, that was luck.

So for approx 30-40 minutes, about 5 million isk, and the 700LP. It takes long enought to accumulate LP for a decent offer that I don't count it as isk per hour on L3.

With that, I'd guesstimate at 7 mill/hour for L3 in .8 system. It will get slightly better as you creep towards 0.5 sec systems, and probably tops at 10m/hour for L3's in high-sec.

It's doable in a raven with a painter and cruises, as long as you don't loot them.

 50-65mill for a single mission?

Sure you didn't leave out a decimal point?

The worth of LPs is somewhere on the order of 2mill per 1000 LP (based on the most common LP offer, implants at 15k for a +3 worth around 20-25mill. So for a 6k-LP mission, you'd be making 12mill (or less) of ISK. Not 50-65mill.

I agree that the differences loyalty points is big, and this adds up to mucho isk.

Another factor is salvage. The battleships in LvlĘs drop much more salvage, than the frigates or cruisers in Lvl3Ęs. That salvage is worth a lot, convert it to rigs and you have even more isk.

Add in the BS-sized modules as loot, which can be sold for much more isk, and I think Lvl4Ęs are far more profitable per hour.

Well all in all I believe there should be some kind of mission lvl in between, as I can easily do lvl 3's but I can't handle any lvl 4's alone.

I don't know how much Isk/hr my intake is but I would think it would be about those 7mill/hr on lvl 3's.

If you are a speed runner, then lvl3's are probebly better than lvl4's.

There may also be another reason to do lvl3's. For example, taking a drake with masic fitout to spam lvl3's for 0.0 pirate agents may be more viable than fitting a bilion+ uber fitout for 0.0 lvl4's, depending on how much a risk you beleive other players are.

Oh yeah, 0.0 lvl3's are more profitable than 1.0 lvl4's by far (heck 0.0 lvl1's can give 100-200k mission rewards for the noobs). Sell off your 1-2bil lvl4 solo machine, grab a drake with t1 fitout and charge into a npc 0.0 region such as stain or wherever and start making more.

That 20-30 mil / hour are not 0.0 numbers. If you going for perfect missions (mission picking but thats an exploit now) in 0.0 you can get up to 100m/h. But in empire 20-30mil are not difficult now with concentrated skills, a good agent and a good ship on average basis.
Just to give you an example: with the new rigor rigs i tested my time yesterday, gurista extravaganza took me less than 50 minutes to do solo, bit over 1hour with bonusstage.
So 1 hour = around 20 mil in bounties, 3 mil reward (+time reward) and 8,2k lp, thats over 30m/h. And thats an average mission, the good ones give much more profit: for example right hand of zazzmatazz, 3m rewards/bounties + around 6k lp in 5 minutes, slave traders 2/2: around 4 mil in reward+bounties + 8,2k lp in under 10 minutes.
The other missions go in average for 30-40m/h now (ofc. not instantly, you have to be patient for good lp offers for that). This of corse with concentrated bs and social skills and a very expensive bs, but that are realistic numbers.

I agree with you, if someone is quite new and needs like 3 hours for a gurista ev lvl 4, he is better of with lvl 3 missions, expecially as they can be done even faster now, as we have the drake. But once you build up a littl wealth and can afford nice fitting for your battelship and have decent skills with it, lvl 4 beat lvl 3 by far.
