I'm approaching 3 million skillpoints and am starting to feel comfortable fitting a cruiser well (though sans any t2). I'm blowing L2 missions out of the water and am swift approaching the rep that I need to start on L3 missions...but I'm not sure what ship to hop into (my skills are most heavily tilted towards drones and fitting/cap skills, heavy does of mechanic as well)
Basically, I can either train for a week and barely fly a domi (no heavy hybrids) or I can train for a few days and fly a Myrmidon fairly well (though still sans T2)
If I'm 100% carebearing at the moment, which would be better for L3 Missions?

Domi. The Myrmidon is more for looks. Decent ship it is, but Domi's better and only 15mil more.

Skill wise, Domi would be easier to use in level 3's because you have so much more armor, so you have a much larger margin of error. It also has more slots so you can fit more mods for whatever reason. Unless you need the speed and agility advantage the Myrmidon offers, I would go with the domi at this point. Myrmidon needs to cost less or have some kinda killer setup before it becomes a better deal.
If the Myrmidon had a tech 2 version, then ya, that would be nice.

Do the myrmy dance since it uses medium gear like your cruisers which you already have trained up well, and costs much less then a Domi when you factor in the insurance costs. :) The myrmidon is a great mission ship with its armor repair bonus and the same drone damage bonus as the domi. Think about it, slot-wise the domi is 6/5/7. The myrmy is 6/5/6 but the repper bonus makes up for the 7th slot in a way. You just have less hp to soak up damage, so pay attention. :)

Only thing he needs to train is large armor rep and maybe active hardeners, if he already doesn't have those. He's not really going to be shotting anything really. And he could put medium hybrids on the domi anyway and still do the same damage the Myrmidon does because the Myrmidon doesn't get bonuses to medium hybrids. But yes, insurance will be much higher. And lets hope you don't lose a battleship in a level 3...

I would go with the Myrmidon first since its basically a mini Dominix, so once your skills get higher you will be used to using drone ships and can upgrade to the Dominix and do some L4 missions. The Myrmidon will do the L3 missions fine, but if you have the isk I suppose the Dominix is better.

I fly both and really prefer the Domi. It can be a bit of a slug, but it is an awesome drone boat. If you don't already have your drones skills trained up, I'd definitely do that. DI is a huge boost to drone damage and the Domi can use nothing but drones and fit other mods in the high slots (as opposed to guns). I also have to agree with the previous post that the Myrmidon is overpriced at this point. It's better than the Brutix - especially if you use drones - but needs to come down 10 million ISK or so, imo. |

Myrmidon is cheaper and needs less skill.

For a level three, you can get away with a BC for sure. I'd reccomend you make sure repair systems (the armor repper skill, cant remember) is at 4. Also, you'll need 5 drones for sure.
I found that BS's are just overkill for lvl3's. A bc should be more than adaquete with a manageable amount of risk. Just make sure you start to focus your skills to help sharpen that BC, cause it may be alittle tough for a while.

Dominix tanks better, nosfs better, does more damage if fitted with bs size guns and has replacement drones even if you use heavy drones.
The reason I fly a myrmidon once in a while is that it's faster and more agile than a dominix.

I started my lvl 3 missions in a domi and can only recommend you do the same. In missions bigger=better. You will be able to do all lvl missions comfordly, even with low skill points (i started in my domi at about 2.3 mil). It tanks really well, has 5 meds for cap regen, damage mainly from drones so 2-3 tractors for loot is possible. Hard to kill in lvl 3, you have to be really unlucky to lose it
The Domi is the choice for easy risk free money in missions, only downside is that its a little boring. Jump in -> release drones -> afk 10 min -> mission done.
