Ok, this morning my housemates gfx card died, originally i thought nothing of it, probably just overheating or something else random. Then i remember that my eve client has been freezing my computer all week since patch, it happened again today, exefile.exe (eve) goes upto 100% resources then after about 20 seconds hangs my pc stating nv4 error (gfx driver) Upon restarting my OS has become unstable and blue screens immediatly when trying to boot windows, i fixed this using the recovery console but thought it would be best to report anyway. Spec info below...
System Model: ConRoeXFire-eSATA2. BIOS: Default System BIOS Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.20GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 1024MB RAM Page File: 494MB used, 1970MB available

-The computer is not overheating, underpowered or any anything else you could think of to make this is a client error so please fix it because i cant afford $500 for a new gfx card if mine blows up aswell :(

many have tried to get a reply on the client side issues from ccp. your not alone in your problems and many others have voiced similar issues.
of course, some ppl seem to think all of us affected are having serious hardware problems / 4 inches of dust packed in our PCs or something rediculous and the fact it all started w/ the patch is coincidental
i've redone my pc 3 times now. completely cleaned it both physical components and reformats. i now operate w/ a boxfan on my desk blowing directly onto my components (as my temps were rising under eve, but funny how my temps are fine under doom 3 max settings and a divx fullscreen movie on 2nd monitor )
my only conclusion is that CCP will not recognize the client side issues due to liability or whatever... at this point i dont even care. just purely frustrated and waiting for a fix. i'd do the whole 'i'm quitting now' crap but i've invested almost 3 years into this game and i'm just gonna ride it out hoping CCP fixes it like they always have.
despite my patience. i'm pretty ****ed about this patch. content was great but who the hell is responsible for testing?
oh, thats right, the paying customer are..

Edited by: Tachy on 20/12/2006 08:44:09 Turn off sound.
EVE has and had massive problems with creative labs and realtek sound solutions from the start.
With many patches we get fantastic new sounds crashing the systems of quite a few customers the hard way. For some people a driver up- or downgrade helps till the next patch.
But now ccp is searching for a designer/coder for a new sound engine. Prepare yourself for a fix not within the next 2 years and turn off the ingame sound.
Edit: Oh, and while you're at it, check your EAX or other environmental sound settings. EVE usually screws those up badly. Yes, a game is meddling with your system settings ... --*=*=*--
The cause for this is not yet known, but we do have a possible fix in testing. by Sharkbait | 2006.09.20 |

If Creative and Realtrek have issues, what is a good alternative?

The day that EVE is truly bug-free, the EVE Gate will probably go super nova and kill us all. |

Philips, C-Media, ESS, all come to mind. Turning off ingame sound might be a better answer though. Atleast until the new voice-comms system is released. Then, ummm ... time to start screaming ...

Opps, forgot about the dual core bug. That'll be your problem. Eve don't em at the moment. There is a setting that reduces the problem for the time being.
