Edited by: Hal9001 on 20/12/2006 05:54:51 At random times my screen will zoom WAAAAAyyy out to where everything in system, planets, belts, gates are all stacked up on the same spot, I cant look around , ( camera wont move ). The only thing that corrects it is jumping thru a gate or docking, then a few minutes later it will happen again. The overview works just fine and no other complaints as far as gameplay.. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Its not the map zooming out to the galaxy map or anything to do with the "map" function.. I'm still in the regular system veiw

Mine does this also, I have heard it is dual core related, but none of the dual core 'fixes' work for this. I would appreciate any ideas as well.

I think I have had something similar to this happen to me, try using the "Reset Camera" button, that seems to fix it for me.

Tried it, only thing that seems to work is docking or jumping

i had the same issue, it wascause by teamspeak, if you are usin this at abotu the same time, change the soundcard settings from you current one to the default (still works) and this resolved my issue, sound in eve can cause issues, took me ages to find the issue as i never related a 3rd party sound program to effect the graphics in eve, but it was indeed.

Do I change the general settings on my vid card or settings in the teamspeak?

I have to give this a bump...
After redoing my system, i got the exactly same error, HAL9001 described. My TS is set to standard-audio-driver alredy, but this wont help.
As we got EvE-Voice now, i guess there won't be any fix for TS - usage, so ... did anyone find anything out about this issue here?

Same problem - I have disabled the sound in Eve all together anyways but no joy - will try the T.S sound settings next - only started after the latest patch.

I also get this problem - I believe the zooming out happens sometimes when I Ctrl-click to lock a target. It zooms way out as if it is going to a solar system map but I can't get zoomed back in. |

Edited by: Susan Acid on 30/03/2007 16:43:39 I've had this a few times as well. The only way to get back to normal view was to dock or jump through a star gate.
Edit-I don't have TS.

I'm getting locked out in the map view, while scanning. This is the first thread I found with a similar issue, but I will keep looking for a more specific thread. Camera reset hasn't helped, close map hasn't helped, only docking seems to work. (I haven't tried jumping to another system.)
If this is teamspeak related, I'm at a loss to explain why a sound related external program messes up the graphics inside of EVE.

I am having this same problem. It only seems to happen when I'm in large gangs.

I tested this and for me it is not realted to Ctrl-Clicking. :/
Still got the hope, someone knows a workaround for this keeps me from participating in any serious fleet- or pack-action...

Solution Teamspeak, Settings->Options->Sound Devices: Set "Sound Driver" to "Wave" instead of "Direct Sound". Its a DirectX/Sound issue related to Teamspeak - it's an old annoying bug.

Thats a first - never heard anyone not using teamspeak getting the problem. Are you getting the issue in the same way like these folks (look at the image): url1 coming up shortly url2 coming up shortly
Okai, it's related to DirectSound - so the question is, are you using any other software / utils that use Direct Sound too? If so, if it's not gamerelated - keep them shut down.
Or, if you canot identify that you use such third party software - you could try to set the Sound hardware acceleration down a bit. 1. Control Panel->Sound And Audio Device: 2. Audio Tab -> Sound Playback: "Advanced" 3. Advanced Audio Properties->Performance Tab: "Hardware acceleration" It's at full I suppose - try adjusting it down ... eve works smooth even at level 1. Worst case is if you have to put it at level 0 (slider all to the left) which may give you some lag/stutter in large fleet engagements.

I have this too... AND it happens like every 5 minutes to me. Even without doing anything just floating in space.
I tried everything.
- fresh windows xp2 install + sp2 + latest updates - disabling audio hardware accecleration - deinstall teamspeak - latest nvidia driver - older nvidia driver - nvidia beta driver - latest hardware drivers for all components - the amd dualcore cpu driver - the amd dualcore optimizer - disabling audio completly - deinstall and reinstall of EVE Online
AND.. WTF it doesnt help at all... I have no problems with my Computer (AMD 4600+, Tyan AM2 Board, 4GB DDR Ram, GeFORCE 7950 GT), but eve is unplayable on this system, i need to use my old computer to play it.
please ccp fix this, this is a serious bug.

General, you have the symptoms like the two url's taht contain the images, right? Excactly like the images?
Thats a second report in that case - now something must have changed in the gamecode for this to trigger when people are not using Teamspeak anymore. Key issue previously (for the 2 past years) has been Teamspeak in Direct Sound mode.
And since others are experiencing stutters/lag when there's a lot of action I wonder what part of the graphics enginge that has changed.
CCP take note - you've done something to your hamsters ....
