I'm actually looking for a photo someone uploaded a while ago where he is using 3 monitors for EVE. Can anyone help me where I can find this link? |

Okay, now I am curious, and maybe asking a dumb question. Taking a quick look at the photo it appears more than simply stretching EVE across three monitors. It looks like Eve is actually natively rendering 3x width to keep the horizontal scale. If so, how? (I am not anywhere near my Eve machine otherwise I would start looking around on Eve to do this.)

I'm curious about this one as well! Like the cat in the photo, why do they always, given a choice between a bed and a computer chair, choose to sit in the chair?

and horace, I believe it is software configured, like your graphics card can over ride native game stuff. However I have read somewhere about editing one of the game files.

you set all the monitors to horizontal spam, then your graphics card renders them all like a single continuous screen at 3000somethingx1024 or whatever resolution the combination of all 2/3/4+ screens is. this unlocks the different res options in the EVE esc menu
ie i set both my monitors to horizontal span(not dualview, 1 continuous desktop at 2560x1024) start eve windowed, hit esc after logging in and under the graphics option theres a bunch of new resolution options available aka 2304x864, 2560x1024 etc.
i dont know how i could have enjoyed eve without the 2nd monitor, i can never go back to single screen eve now lol

Link gives me a "Page can not be displayed" error. Is it broken for anyone else, or am I just special?

It's there, just checked again. Though it's a 2MB JPEG file, so you might have to wait a little if you're on a slow connection.

My ISP was having problems ;).
The three monitor span is achieved using a device from Matrox. It allows three monitors to be connected to a single graphics card port and used as if they were one.
EDIT: Oh forgot to mention, ONLY use this with nVidia cards. ATI drivers will NOT work at the resolutions you need to span three monitors. ATI disable D3D at higher resolutions.

I run it on an nVidia 7600GS. I have perfect quality and no tearing at 3840 X 1024.
I do have the 512mb card, but a 256 will do just fine.

Edited by: MAESTRO GRANDE on 21/10/2007 10:04:54 Im using 3 monitors 1600x1200 connected to 2 videocards nvidia 7900 gs. that gives 4800x1200 total resolution. What i can do:
- have 3 screen wide 2d applications where nonlimited window stretching is allowed (example Ms Excel)
- set 2 monitors connected to 1 card to work as one (doubledesktop) - reach the resolution in eve of 3200 x 1200 is possible.
AND what is interesting then - eve remembers the 3200x1200 resolution even when monitors are set separately then.
and i can move the 3200x1200 window through ALL THREE screens.
so the point is: if somehow you set in eve-client the 4800x1200 window it will be possible to play in this resolution full TRIPLE MONITORS on 2 graphic cards (even QUAD MONITORS) in a window mode.
So.... Does anybody have any Idea how to do it? how to set a totally custom free resolution in eve window?

I opened eve in 3200x1200 in window mode and moved it to the middle of the three screen desktop. so i have half left screen, full middle screen and half right screen. now im trying to make a 4800x1200 window to have full three screen view, im looking for the solution - i received this from GM, but i didnt test it yet:
This method is not supported and I can't guarantee that it works, but you can see if setting the resolution in the prefs.ini file helps on this matter. You can find this file in the settings subfolder of EVE, which you can find in the following location:
"%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE" if you are on an english Windows 2000/XP (the path names are translated in other languages) and "%LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE" on Windows Vista
You may not be able to properly locate the parent folders as Windows is hiding them by default.
To properly locate them, either just copy the path into the explorers adress bar, or go to the "tools" menu, then "folder options" in your explorer browsing window. There, please look for "view" and in "hidden files and folders", please select "show hidden files and folders".
In this file you will have to add the lines desktopHeight=1200 desktopWidth=4800
(change the values as needed)
More information on the different settings that can be done in the prefs.ini are available in this Forum Thread: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topicthreadID108524
Best regards,
GM Karidor EVE Online Customer Support
So i will see if it will work...
