Everytime someone posts there a polaris deletes the post, but you can see the name of the char. that just posted, just not his post, WTF!!! CCP is like the Bush administration, but confined to the game of EVE. -=/Bah\=-

On every recount done by every newspaper, magazine, etc looking for a banner headline on how President Bush was not really elected, guess what? He was. Instead of reading the trash out there, study how the framers of our Government set out to have the President elected, and then closely look at the actual results - both in Florida and elsewhere. Case ya haven't noticed, after 40 years of Democratic dominance of the Legislature a few million of the rest of us got ****ed and threw the rascals out - thus a Republican majority. As to Scope - only "Officially Appointed Reporters" are supposed to post there - at this time I don't think there actually are any. Fact remains because of the proportional representation the guy with the least votes did get elected. Fact remains because of the proportional representation the guy with the least votes did get elected. Al Gore had more votes nationally, but didn't win enough states. There is no popular vote and therefore hardly if ever are all votes counted. The vast majority of states are "winner takes all" and that means once the margin between the candidates becomes greater than the amount of votes remaining to be counted, the counting stops. This also means that alot of overseas soldiers votes go uncounted because they're absentee ballots ussually come in to play towards the end of counting. Also soldiers ussually vote heavily republican (and thats why Al Gore, a man that wanted to be Commander and Chief, tried to get soldiers votes tossed from the Florida recounts) so that would of swayed any mythical "popular vote" numbers.

It turned out to be a lot more complicated than that The Democrats, IIRC, were trying to force recounts in three counties of Florida, because of irregularities to do with the infamous "dimpled chads." The Republicans brought a counter-case claiming the recount should be carried out, if at all, across the entire state. Well, it turned out when the papers were made public, if the Democrats had had their way and just those 3 counties had been re-checked, Bush would've carried the state. But if the GOP's counterclaim had gone through and all the state had been re-checked, Gore would've carried the state. Bizarrely, both sides were clamouring for a judgment that would have cost themselves the Presidency The only safe conclusion to be drawn at the end of it all was this: disregarding US politics, the mechanism of election - at least in Florida - was horrendously badly flawed. So much so that if Chad held an election using an identical system, it would be dismissed out of hand as a meaningless exercise. You can't go far wrong with great big pieces of paper, names written in block capitals an inch high, and a honking great thick pencil to write a big stupid "X" alongside one of the names. When dealing with the presidency and close to call votes, its important to be percise in order to close the matter and have faith in the democratic process, even if it needs a revote. The Surpreme Court, I was led to believe didnt think it was appropiate at all because of some belief that the state rights were surpreme in how voting was carried out within their state, which I find to be poppy****. I wouldnt call the voting method used in florida as 'technology', it was just punching holes in card board, which I find bizzare too and hardly can be expected to be better than using a pen. ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU.
