If someone boards my ship while its insured...am i ******? i mean, do i lose all that? The insurance i payed for? the fittings i worked to get money to pay for? Someone told me if they sd it, the insurance is invalid...and well..if theyve stolen it im ****** either way. So, am i out of 100 mil because my raven is mysteriously missing?

To my knowledge the only way for someone to board your ship is for you to be out in space then eject in your pod. So if you don't eject you won't lose your ship.

Well, its a bit more complicated than that, but yes i did eject from it, but not in a place where i thought it could be stolen.
My corporation has recently moved to a different area, where we put up a pos, and everyone stored their ships inside. Ufortunately, it ran out of fuel....and somehow noone knew about it...so people came and stole and/or blew up our ships. Now, i realize that it is entirely my fault and my corp's fault as to why this happened. I could have docked my ship, logged in it...or w/e....but youd have to be in the situation to see how much more convenient it was to store it at the pos.
The part that ****es me off is that ive worked for maybe 3 months now to afford that raven, and im a casual player. I payed for the insurance, and they just board it...and the insurance goes poof...like i never even owned it. THats the bull****. I dont even get a dam cent back, so ive basically been forced back to day one. What am i supposed to do, go run lvl 2 missions for a year to get it back? No, CCP has basically FORCED me to buy a gtc and sell it.......

Edited by: Ariel Stardust on 21/12/2006 16:18:36 Edited by: Ariel Stardust on 21/12/2006 16:16:07 Why are you trying to pay for a Battleship with measly level 2 missions?
Seriously?
You can rat in a Ferox easily in 0.0 and make umpteen more times than those missions.
And CCP hasn't "forced" you into doing those level 2 missions for months on end to slowly drudge together 100m, it's just one's playstyle.

What would you have done if it were blown up in combat? You'd get the base cost back but not the insurance (30m) or fittings. You'd be in a similar boat (no pun intended).
Lesson #0: Don't fly what you can't afford to lose.

Always log off in whatever ship you can least afford to lose.

Huh? i didnt say i was trying to afford a raven with lvl 2 missions.
What i mean is...thats basically the only way i have of making money right now...because my raven was my money maker.
Its a long story as to how i initially payed for it...but basically an old corpm8 was very generous and lent me 70 mil, and i bought some raven bpcs for my old corp and they built me one for 70 mil.
The point is, i had everything invested in my raven...and i insured it. Real life car insurance covers theft, so why cant eve insurance do so as well? Maybe not the whole thing but jsut a little bit to get you started.

Huh? Platinum lvl insurance is 100 mil...not 30.
And even if it was 30 mil...itd still be better than what i did get, nothing! So no i wouldnt be in the same boat. I could at least afford a ferox or something.

I am curious what you think CCP should do? When you bought the insurance it comes up with a warning about how the insurance is only for you and blah blah blah. You clicked okay. Now when you find out what you did wasnÆt very smart and you didnÆt protect yourself from a loss you couldnÆt afford you whine here.
If the insurance covered theft then sellers could just insure their ships sell them to you and have you ôstealö them and collect the money from that too. I think you should ask your corp to replace the ship. They let the POS go down they are at fault for your loss, if they canÆt or wonÆt give you a ship then maybe itÆs time to find a real corp.

Sure....maybe if sellers trade their ships while inspace...but when you put something up on the market...it must be repackaged...making any insurance void...

See you did read some of that warning message... My point is that you could fraud the insurance company. IRL you have insurance adjusters and investigators that way you when you make a claim they up your rates and make sure you arenÆt trying to work the system. CCP isnÆt going to do all that. Not because they hate you and want you to fail but because this is not RL and they donÆt reward stupid playing. If you want rewards for doing something dumb join the Special Olympics.

But buyers arent all smart so there would be an issue. The other night at 1am I bought an 8mil shuttle. Someone dropped a few zero's to the end.

See...it wouldnt present any more of a problem than people who accidentally get scammed on escrow or contracts....or people who dont carefully look at the price of something on the market(no offense ).....people are always going to get scammed....and theres never really a 100% fool/scamproof method to anything. But, i think it would certainly do more good than harm....
