Kel'xun Shi Amarr Imperial Academy	Posted - 2006.12.21 09:32:00 - [1] The communications feed flickers on, and the shadowed face of a middle-aged Khanid appears. -Ahem- I ran into something today.....something that was...quite shocking to me..... It started with getting a mission from one of my agents, it required me seeking out some freed slaves being smuggled out and reclaiming them for the Empire.... As I came upon the target....instead of it warping...instead of it turning and aiming it's weapons at me....it opened a communications feed to me....and requested something of me....something that shook me.... It requested I let him go...the Minmatar Freedom Fighter wanted me...to let him and the freed slaves go... In curiosity I asked why...why should I allow terrorists get away with our goods...his response... "This is my family. I have faught long and hard to find them, and want them to come home. My only wish is to see them safely home, protected by me. I wish only that. My mission will have been accomplished, and no longer would I need to fight you, the Amarr." I stayed silent....listening to his reason...and something gripped at my heart... "I nearly lost my life fighting for their freedom, but it would have been worth it. I freed my family from a slaver convoy....the pods are about 200km from this location...none died. All they lost was their ships. I spared their lives....I request that you spare my family and I's." I faced a moral quandry.....he didn't kill any of my brothers and sisters....but he destroyed their ships....and stole from us....but..he didn't kill....and he only wished....to be left alive as well.... "Will you grant me this one wish?" I nodded slowly....something told me it was the right thing to do....Was it the Amarrian God? Was it some other God? What was it? I didn't know....and still don't....but I listened....I unlocked my targeting systems and lowered me weapons....I gave him a look of understanding and gave him a message.... "You and your family may live....as you left mine to live....but I ask for a favor...that when you get home.....you let your own brothers and sisters know what transpired...to let them know...that peace can be attained....that without bloodshed...we can find an understanding." He nodded....and that was last I saw of him as the communications flickered off....and he warped out....I sat there for a few moments, just thinking on what it was I felt when he was speaking...he had so much emotion...so much passion in his words...but I had a nagging feeling.... So I took off and looked about in a 200km radius....and found what it was I was looking for....sitting there like asteroids, were five unscathed pods of my brothers and sisters....and each pilot was alive, as well as their crew... Tears fell....the Minmatar Freedom Fighter had honor....a true warrior if ever I saw one....I gathered up my brothers and sisters and took them to the nearest station....they thanked me for saving them...but were slightly confused by the Minmatars actions....I explained to them what happened.... Their reaction at first was shock and disgust....but I didn't falter...and told them what I felt...what it I saw...and what I understood....and soon they did as well.... Now they see as I do...yet wonder what it was the Minmatar had in him...and what I had speaking to me....they have stood by me....and agreed that I should say this... I apologize, Minmatar...for our bloody and disgusting actions.....I apologize, Gallente....for our constant hatemongering and arrogant attitudes towards you.... But I do not apologize, fellow brothers and sisters....for letting them go....they spared some of our peoples lives.....it was only right I spared theirs. Yell blasphemy and heresy all you wish....but I feel it was God's desire that I did what I did.... Why do we need slaves? Why do we have them? What mandate did God give us that stated we should utilize slavery? How does having slaves...bring us....closer to God? Answer me that..... I am a Man of God. I am a Crusader. I can understand it happening to a Khanid - I mean you're only barely above livestock - but to Amarrians? They let perfectly good commodities go. I recently had an encounter that I will discuss at a later date, but suffice to say, I have felt a need to go meditate and reflect. If it helps I am not sure anymore that killing is the way to go about ending slavery. It is good to know I am not the only one contemplating my actions. Perhaps there is room to meet in the middle. Thank you for sparing them. I don't know how all this will play out but I hope actions like yours will bring a peaceful solution and hopefully more people will reflect on your actions.
