Hi~ everyone :D I recently started to have some interest in flying Phoenix but before i jump in, I have few questions about it. 1. Could we use Phoenix in highsec area? if not, how about just flying one? 2. I heard capital ship class can't dock into stations. Is that same for Phoenix? 3. Could someone share Phoenix fittings for fleet pvp on this post? Battleclinic.com won't open up on my computer somehow. Thx |

1. nope, lowsec/nullsec only a few legacy highsec dreads exist, but afaik they can no longer be sold, so they are a rare thing 2. Titans and Super carriers can't dock. regular carriers and dreadnoughts can dock. Phoenix is a dread so it can dock. 3. I'll leave this to someone else, but I would guess max damage and buffer, with maybe a capital shield booster. not sure if cruise or torps are currently in favor.

I didn't mean to sound rude, but they are pretty specialised and if you don't have a clear vision as to why your training towards them (not an insignificant amount of time and SPs), you must surely ask yourself, 'why?'

Phoenix hasn't been terrible for a while. If it gets buffed to the top of the pile by the capital rebalance its going to be a frightening thing. |

You seem to be pretty new as you are in a rookie corp, you don't know that dreads and carriers can dock, and you are using battle clinic fits. I'm going to suggest that to enjoy the game you put away flying a capital ship for a while. I know it looks exciting and fun (and it can be) but to sit in one it takes ~100 days of very focused training. To actually fly the ship well it might be another 100 days. In that time you won't be able to do anything else. Your skills won't be useful for subcaps and you won't actually get to play Eve at its best. Another **** thing about training straight for a capital is capitals are not used in every fight. You won't be able to just take a Phoenix out to every T2 cruiser fleet. It will severely limit your money making opportunities and what fleets you can go on.
What I suggest is first of all find a corporation that does something you'd be interested in. Find a lowsec PVP corp, join one of the nullsec corps like Dreddit, or Karmafleet, or Pandemic Horde, or any group that takes new players. Ask for help train their doctrines. This way you can learn to fight, make money, and generally how to play the game. After you've been playing for a good while and understand the game you have a few options.
1. Start a new characters and begin training him into a focused capital pilot.
2. If you have enough money simply buy a pilot that can fly a dread.
3. If you feel you've trained enough other skills to make subcaps fun then go ahead and train your main character for a capital. This does have the advantage over starting an alt in that there are a lot of core skills you won't need to train. But it means you will be stuck with whatever subcaps you have for quite a while. |

Has already been pointed. Bore yourself doing everything else before you go for capitals; they are very specialized tools whose main use ATM is bashing structures (which is as thrilling as it sounds) and dreadnaughts specifically are fleet machines, akin to glass cannons. They are not "cool", they are tools for a purpose, and currently CCP is reassesing that purpose.
Also the Phoenix specifically used to be a running joke...
CCP Seagull: "EVE should be a universe where the infrastructure you build and fight over is as player driven and dynamic as the EVE market is now".
62% of players: "We're not interested. May we have Plan B, please?"
CCP Seagull: "What Plan B?"

lol... after I read all the posts I asked myself about why I want to use phoenix and "I know it looks exciting and fun " was the only reason so far :P I see which path i should take now. Thank you~ |

It's the best siege dread for shooting stationary targets.
But to newbies: all capitals are coffins, don't ever fly one with using your main.

Remember that whenever you have a bad day in EVE, the correct reponse is "Thank you CCP, may I please have another?"

But to newbies: all capitals are coffins, don't ever fly one with using your main. I don't necessarily support this. Supers are a coffin because they are worth so damn much and you can't dock them. In the grand scheme of things carrier and dreads aren't that expensive and you can switch to another ship with no worries.
I do agree with not training them on your main because the training times are so long. Keep your man subcaps unless you are totally out of ships you want to try. |

- No, unless you get one reimbursed or relocated by a Dev into hisec.
- Incorrect. Only supers and titans cannot dock. (And this will likely be changing soon. Dreads can dock.
- citadel torps. T2 siege mod. Shields. BCS. Web/TP support ship for insta-blap goodness.

I scrolled through the posts and think the Phoenix basic's are covered. Like it cant jump into high-sec.
Time to move on and buy one in lowsec. Fit up torps, warp to a pos and fire.
Remember EVE rule nr 1 tho. |

If you intend to use it for PvP you will need some mates and a support fleet or it will not last long.
If you just want to see what a Phoenix is like without spending 2 billion ISK just log in to SISI and try one out there. |

You need to have had a current and active EVE account at the time the last mirror to SISI was done (last was a month or two back I believe, not sure, but they are probably due for a new mirror). Note that this requirement may be changing.
This is the Wiki:
https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Singularity
You need to create a separate EVE directory on your PC and modify the startup to link to SISI instead of TQ, Details of how to download and do all that are here:
http://community.eveonline.com/support/download/test-servers/
Currently the other part time test server, Duality, appears to also be enabled so that is available as well.
NOTE: You still need the skills for the ship and your SISI character will mirror your real characters current skills at the time of the mirror plus training to date BUT you can get up to 10 million extra SP by fronting up for mass test events (2 mill per event max 10 mill) to cross train on other ship skills your real character does not have . |
