Actually, the age-old definition of a troll (dating back to when newsgroups were the only venue) is someone who plants inciteful posts for the purpose of "derailing an ongoing conversation." It had nothing to do with anger, or hurting somebody's feelings, since in those days largely intelligent adults were online, and these people aren't the sort to be ruffled by some nasty text word.

Now the word is used by the ill-informed in many different ways. Yes, "You made me mad  ." But, also for anyone who persists in logically founded disagreement. Press a point you're a troll. It just goes to show you how little the general public actually knows about this medium they think they "own".
Unfortunately, in this venue, you get some very strange definitions of trolling and hammers fall in the strangest places.
The fall back position seems to be, "If you don't like it, don't log here." Very community kind of thinking going on there.

Kids drop the T word whenever they encounter a view point different than their own. Because like, they're geniuses. They're always right and anyone who is capable of seeing view points from angles other than their own are obviously only trolling because no one could ever be so stupid to legitimately hold a belief contrary to my own.
