Edited by: Oshara Vulwrathian on 22/12/2006 01:51:50 I was wondering if anyone knows like how many jumps across the space map it is?
Anyone ever done it? How long does it take on autopilot?

Too bad Innominate Nightmare canŠt travel through empire...would be a cool project to hitchhike across the universe. *me goes to make hitchhiking alt* ________________________________

Well. 60 odd jumps from the edge of safe space (Esa) to Far Feythabolis 2-RSC7. 60 odd jumps from Esa to Lonetrek ( Nonni )thru empire space then another final 60 to North Deklein (UJV-HE)
So i would guess 180 jumps give or take 20.

Edited by: Commander Craig on 22/12/2006 07:31:11 Well since 149,598,000 KM = 1.0 AU and you can travel at 5.9 AU on average that would make 882,628,200 KM/s and since travelling 30 AU doesn't change anything on map i'm guessing 1000000 x 6 AU = 1,795,176,000,000,000 KMŠ .

People have started using this expression in the wrong place tbh... its to be used when you cant say how long something is. You CAN say how many jumps it is from A to B in Eve.

The longest route used to be 71 or 72 systemjumps. This might have been changed in one of the changes to the jumpsystem.
The star systems have physical coordinates. The cluster really is a threedimensional creation - even if you can't leave a sysem without a jumpgate or jumpdrive.
The range for jumpdrives is based on lightyears.
Maybe one of the jump-planners can be made to show the cluster's size. --*=*=*--

I'm actually kinda curious about that. Just a few days ago a triple Nephilim spawan changed belts while I warped in, but not by warp. They miked out. Seriously. They ran at 1400m/s and their frig escorts at 2000m/s, and it took us a while to catch em. We snared them one by one, and by the time we killed em all we were over 16,000km from the belt, and could see a triple commander spawn had appeared there. Had we let the Nephilims continue at their pace, they would've made it to the next belt in just over 28 days. The whole ordeal proved to me that the systems really are as big as suggested, not just bubbles of "space" created as instances. My obvious question then is... what lies beyond the outer planetary ring? Just how deep can DSS'es go? Can one fly so far that one crosses into another system? And if so, just how big IS each system, and how far would you have to fly to mike across the galaxy?

Edited by: Smagd on 22/12/2006 12:23:30 "Not Identified", a guy over in Events, claims to have used pre-Revelation deep space probes to approach the next solar system over (happened to be a Jovian one, coincidentally) in a lot of 40 AU warps, and he's brought some evidence.
In the end his position on the system map was over a planet in the neighbor system, but he was still in the old solar system, so yes, it *would* be possible to cross the distance between two solar systems without a jump (probably even with regular superfast interceptor engines, given a year or five), but no, it won't actually load the new system.

A friend of mine got bumped into warp from a stargate?!. So anyway he is in warp for ages without cap ever running out "yay great safespots", not really because he warps out of the solarsystem and sees those background clouds from the outside as a really big ball and somekind of grid behind the solarsystem, when looking at starmap he's betwean solarsystems?!. There is no local and overview is borked. He cannot make any BMs and the gm that answered the stuck petition had to go get a senior gm to find my friend |
