So I thought I'd mess around with some Hurricane setups today. I got my vagacane setup. My classic tank n gank setup. My sniper setup. Then I tried to mix the sniper and tank n gank setup. IE: drop the sensorboosters and tracking comps and load quake and some from of ewar/tank. I loaded all 6 720's with quake and was happy to see that I'd have about a 2.8k alpha along with 370 dps (3 t2 gyros ftw). What I wasn't too happy about was the range and speed my ship has been crippled to.
Speed: 80m/s Optimal: 7.5km (9 with 2 tracking comps)
Can anyone tell me what the purpose of quake is? What situations could it be usefull in?
I can see for station camping. But other than that I don't see a use for it. It would be weird to go from using tremmor to using quake considering the extreme range difference the two operate in. And in real battle, the 10 second reload it would take to switch from tremmor to quake (not to mention if you decide to reload right after firing a salvo), you could already be dead.
So how's this ammo supposed to be used?

It's great against buildings as long as they're stationary and do not develop that nasty exploration site smartbomb effect.
Don't forget that Quake includes a nice hit to your cap recharge rate now too. --*=*=*--
The cause for this is not yet known, but we do have a possible fix in testing. by Sharkbait | 2006.09.20 |

It has awesome damage, but the speed penalty and cap recharge penalty are extreme... just the cap penalty and tracking penalties are bad enough. I really dont like the speed penalty.
Hail was made useful by removing the speed penalty and I hope they do the same for quake.

Anyone else? I'd like to know what the uses of this ammo are in the current state it's in.

I tried using quake on a thrasher and was so horrified by the suckiness that I jestisoned all of it mid-warp.

The only use for Quake now is mission buildings. Used to hit great on POS, but now the range is too short.

Edited by: Xori Ruscuv on 23/12/2006 05:09:48 Check out Outbreak's latest video, "Soulstripper". Has some Quake-use scenes in there. (It is a post-Kali video)
It's great playing Caldari-online, isn't it?

yeah due to the cap penalty being such a bear the only setup i see as being useful would be a passive tank, either shield or armor, depending on your ship,
It essentialy makes any active tank impossible,
And as for the speed penalty,....the tracking penalty actualy tells you what to do with it, sto pmoving best thing for atilleries some times. just try and pure outdamage your target,
Other than that, the one thing i'm still wondering about is what ssort of penalty -20% shields is for t2 LAZAR ammo?

Notify You cannot do that while warping.

Quake is good when you are camping. you not moving it like BOOM!->take that<- Quake works great with Tempest->Huinn in your drone bay. Keep your foe not moving cuz Quake has horrible tracking!

Here we come back to use #1: Remove stationary obstacles while sitting still and not having to tank. 'Problem': When you can tackle your opponent good enough, EMP does the same job for much less Isk. --*=*=*--

Warp on top of hostile battleship/carrier/dread/other tackled BC/cruiser/barge/whatever-->apply Quake liberally.
You know, it's sorta like having hail, without having to swap guns for it.

To the OP
Use it in station camps and bubble/dictor camps Tempest+rook+rapier=pain
The Quake M charge is really on viable on the Munnin and only somewhat then
Best uses of quake Ammo 1. talk it up on the forums, then sell it to noobs 2. Put 1 round in a jet can, repeat every minute and hope you cause lag 3. I think you get some morphite if you grind 100 rounds up
