I was sitting here firing off cruise missiles and have always been annoyed when I see them fly off when the target dies before they get there.
So how about require, or maybe have the optional ability, the use of a targeting laser ( maybe just use current target painters ) that once the target dies, your missiles goto the next target that is painted.

If its required, it would be. That would mean they'd be req's to use an additional mid slot ( if target painter ) or maybe have a new highslot "Missile Guidance Laser"
edit: also I think if implemented this is a way they could add tracking to missiles somehow.

Uh, still wouldn't be a nerf, a nerf is something bad, IE decreasing the armor of a ship, by like, uh 5, but not giving it anything in return. I think. Sure.

It would be a start if FoF missiles reaquired if the initial target died.
I do like your idea though. It's what target painters do in RL.
