Iv often had a few tricks up my sleeve or merely observations, that seem small at first but have saved me many ships, i will help pirates by sharing some of the small nuances that have saved me over the years. Most of this information is more usefull to outlaws
1. If someone engages you when they are in a weaker ship, dis engage and leave. you can bet he has a gank squad nearby.
2. Keep an eye on local as you fight, if local increases by more then two in lowsec, leave. if it increases by more then 1 in 0.0 leave.
3.Always be aligned to an object when you are in a safespot, if you are paying attention a covert ops wont get you.
4. DO NOT EVER ACCEPT 1v1s !
5. If you think someone may be out to get you, they probably are.
6. assume everyone in local is allied with each other unless shown otherwise.
7. Mis direction is key, i have often saved my ship by saying something casual like "well, im going to xxx system and logging" When in fact i go to another gate.
8. when fighting, if your ship setup allows it, attempt to stay aligned to an object, so if you pop your curent target you can leave as soon as possible if some of your targets friends arrive.
9.Never underestimate your opponant, if anything over estimate them and assume the worst.
10. Again, Be a pessimist and assume that everyone is out to get you.
Feel free to add your own. ---------------------------

Pretty much how everyone should play not just outlaws really , only point I'd have an issue with is local increasing by set amounts . In a busy low-sec 30-40 1 or 2 is nothing and I don't think you should run cos' of that , in 0.0 maybe if local jumps soon as you engage that'd be right to leave it alone

This level of paranoia saved my pod and ship at least 4-5 times. And I'm somewhat carebearish. :)
PS: Did 5 1:1's untill now, 3 were broken or the other guy attempted to break them. I would do 1:1's but you need to think ahead and be very carefull. The odd think is that the dishonoured 1:1's were in T1 frigs with players 1-2 years old in high-sec. What would they stand to lose ?

I agree, the closest to 1v1 i would do is jump on a group who assumes they can take me out, that usually ends up in a good fight. iv also accepted about 7 1v1s in my life, 5 dishonured ---------------------------

Well in the op's defence she/he did engage my astarte when i had a friend in a vaga who quickly changed to an ishtar but still engaging a vaga and astarte is pretty brave for a b'thron pilot.
Good advice for less experienced players. not too sure about the 1v1 though. i have accepted a great many 1v1's and never been ganked.

That's a very good point. While scanning from planets the other day for POSs, I managed to find 2 active enemy POSs. I didn't have to warp in on the moons because they had shuttles sitting around with just that in their names. Quick scan through the people and places tab, and you get a positive ID on the corp.

I always find that losing my implants sets me free. Hate the idea that my pod could cost me a hundred million if I don't warp out fast enough.
Originally by: Phelan Lore Try to kill the baitship and run, it's fun.
It sure is.
13) Whenever you're idle, check corps, bios and sec statuses of everyone in local. 14) Never believe anything anyone says in local. Often the opposite is true, or the things said are part of a trap to lure you into losing your ship. 15) Don't be afraid to impersonate and lay your own traps. Name your battle Dominix "Roid Zapper" and release a few time stamped cans in a busy-ish system. You never know, you just might con someone...or not.

Here is one for ya.
If you jump in to a system and find a gate camp on the other side. Don't panic. Look around before uncloaking. Find out what way your ship is facing. See if any planets, moons, stations, belts, ex. are strait or close to it right out in front of you. Warp to it. In a medium to big sized slow warping ship this is your best bet for getting out assuming your not in a warp bubble. Chances are your not going to turn 180 degrees and still warp away before your scrammed/popped.
