Edited by: Gallente Santa on 23/12/2006 06:38:38 Using the new exploration system / probes I found an exploreable 2 stage complex, thinking this might be one of the super heavy ‘beyond lvl 4 mission’ types the troops were called in, however we quickly discovered that it was going to be a walkover and annihilated everything.
As we were finishing off the structures one of the last to go was an “experimental weapon tower”, shortly after that went down,( and dropped some REALLY Rubbish loot) all gang members received this message in a popup window:
Originally by: message box
[corp members name] just received an updated mission objective in relationship to this particular location.
Guristas are the ones of the pirate factions who one usually thinks about as common thugs and loosely organized at best, but as far as you could see, this here was actually an advanced weapon lab run by these "common thugs", something is not right and you let your scanners go to work on the stations remains. While studying the ruined structure and ships, you get hold of some logs containing communication records which lead you to believe that this here operation was contracted and financed by an outside agent, or at least someone who didn’t identify himself as a part of the Guristas. In these records there are lists of orders and deliveries, everything going through a place called Zelig’s patch. That name rings a bell... well, you don’t know it personally, but your computers quickly connect this name with an entry in the regional trade registry, this is a trader in high tech lubricants and he even has an address...
While trying to figure out what exactly that had gained us aside from 100 rounds of antimatter S, the gang member who’s name had appeared in the message noticed he had received a BM 15 jumps away.... 15 0.0 jumps away that is.
The system with this BM in was in a very much no fly zone for members of my alliance, and despite me being tempted to take a ceptor up there anyway just to check it out, it will remain unexplored.
Now aside from the most obvious question, which is that who’s bright idea was it to make 0.0 exploreable content give out the reward 15 jumps away(??!!) my questions are:
Does this happen with any other ‘normal’ or COSMOS missions? Has anyone been able to complete something similar? If so what uber reward did we lose due to politics and not so fantastic content planning?

Edited by: Jameroz on 23/12/2006 08:20:22 Hmm wonder if we did the same or just similar one. It had also that Experimental Weapon Tower and 2 pockets but our gang leader (also the one who probed it out) left before we finished it and we didn't receive any messages.

I agree it would be a shame to introduce content that is not simple and easilly doable, the BM should have been in the same system and a pushover too.
Ok so you have a BM to the next stage of the chain, undoubtedly it will be tougher to clear out and more profitable to complete.
In all probability completing it will give you yet another BM and a new hidden complex to go look at.
As for the BM being in a for you no fly zone... well that is tough, now you will have to weigh the potential pros vs the factual cons, maby you should even consider selling the BM to the locals...
In short, nowhere does it state that EvE is fair, easy or simple, this is what makes the game fun.

The problem is that people are almost invariably getting bookmarks to followup missions that are, invariably, in someone elses teritory and nothing short of a frontal assualt followed by a long drawn out war to gain access to that space will get you to it, never mind the actual complex itself.
And by the time you would pull that off the follow up mission is expired.

CCP has lately adopted the habit to release everything seriously bugged and/or pre-nerfed.
Best not bother with this BM since it will likely reward you only with some Miner 1 after completing an exploration site harder than a 10/10.

Wow, WTF is up with all the whining. You found an exploration site. Awesome for you. You destroyed it, congrats.
You actually recieved a second expedition. Jeepers, that's great.
You didn't get good loot from the first one, it happens, sorry.
Your exploration site is 15 jump away through 0.0, not so hot but it isn't a bug and all the shouts about bugs is assinine.
Seriously, CCP isn't going to hold people's hands and say, "You just scanned a system and won Eve. Please warp to another planet for your complimentary T2 Titan BPO".
If you can't do the second layer of exploration due to politics or not wanting to risk the area, you could always see about trading it for a small bit of ISK?
Being sarcastic about CCP's implementation of expeditions and calling it a stupid idea is very lowbrow.
I've recieved several of these 15 jump secondary explorations and it is indeed interesting to find them and then run them.

If you organise it well, you might be able to pull it off. Hopefully your BM isn't in an enemy hub system. Just take your band of ships over there during a quiet patch and do the complex then. If someone spots you in local, park one of your mates at the entrance gate so you can have a warning if the enemy finds your plex. --------------------------------------------------------------------

Obviously the message did intrigue you enough to contemplate going there despite the danger, and to make a post about it on these boards.
If NPC content causes such interest, I think CCP did something right.

We completed this exploration. We didn't get any good loot from either of these deadspaces. The last stage had a bunch of Weapon's Storage Silos that we couldn't shoot, hack or use archeology on. It seems like something should be done with these, but we couldn't figure it out.
Here's a chat log from entering the second stage:
This is a private area, please leave instantly or face the consequences! Security forces are inbound, leave while you can or face the consequences! This is your last warning, leave now or the consequences will be dire! Like a thunder out of a clear blue sky, local fills up with Guristas... there is murder in the air. Again you are taken by surprise by a wave of Guristas, your computers reel to include them into your immediate battle tactic calculations. This attack is totally relentless, will you survive?
