What is it?
Right side. Second from the top. It looks Romulan-like.

Looks like This One Takes a very long time to train for, I would suggest working on smaller ships for a year or so :)

Yeah, that looks like it. Wow! I do have a long way to go. Why do they have such tiny pictures of stuff on the site? Hmm? Maybe it's my high display resolution.

Yeah you will usually find large corps and alliances fielding them, carriers are used for fighter (really advanced drones) deployment in fleet battles and for transporting of expensive items far distances, due to that they can use jump drives rather then stargates.
A well fitted one will cost about 2 billion ISK, including ship, modules, fighters and fuel.

Alright, I wrote down what I need for the Gallente Carrier Nyx. That's my long range goal. I have at least 2 of the required skills: Drones V, Nav I.
Now I need a mid-range goal. Hmm? Maybe an Assualt craft? Something for Bounty Hunting. Any recommendations?
Mining is my short range goal and I'm do that right now.
Ship: Iteron Mark II
Fitted Modules:
High Power Slot: Miner 1
Med Power Slots: Civilian Shield Booster x 2 Civilian Afterburner
Low Power Slots: Civilian Expanded Cargohold x 2
My cargo capacity has been increased to 4,547 M3. My lock on is turd slow compared to my trusty old Veltor. So I'm just mining and selling raw materials right now.

Capital ships like carriers do. Not standard ships however.
Right, ok if you want to mine, Then I suggest you dont mine into a hauler. What you can do is find a quiet system, with belt NPC's you can handle, and mine there. Dont use your hauler, use a frigate you can fly that is good for mining- Navitas is good for you, or a crusier if you can fly one. Then when you have a full bay, jettison the ore into a container then keep transfering ore into that (these containers only have a 1-1 1/2 hour lifespan mind). when you are happy with the amount of ore, go to the station and get your hauler, then take it all back to the station.
Personally, I find mining dull, however if you can find a good mining corp that will take you (check out the recuitment forums down the page), you might enjoy it.
Also, see what skills you need to replace those civ mods ASAP. Civ mods really really really suck :)

Yes, capital ships use fuel. They can't use normal jumpgates, they need their own jump portal called a Cynosural field. By doing so they can jump to distant systems in one big jump.
You need another ship for it fitted with a cyno field generator, they need to be in the same gang as well. The cyno operator activates the field and then the capital ship can jump to it.
It's kinda heavy on the logistics but it's very useful, so useful that people even use Carriers for hauling as they can totally negate crowded systems and gatecamps.

Edited by: Jonak on 23/12/2006 13:17:12 Thanks a lot guys. Any recommendations for a ship to bounty hunt with?
I think I'll go with the Deimos.

If I may be so blunt; Aim lower, you'll be happier that way.
Get GOOD at using a Thorax and/or Vexor, as in not only the ship requirement skills, but gunnery/drones, cap skills, support skills, tanking skills and whatnot. Then get good at USING them.
That'll keep you busy for a few months :)

Edited by: DubanFP on 24/12/2006 04:33:24 i'm sitting here trying not to die of laughter. I'm fairly certain that's an Avatar which is a titan. Titans have been out for nearly a year and only a handful "3, some rumors of a 4th" exist. Even Motherships "Nyx are Motherships" are very rare. Even bigger alliances only have a handful of them. Probebly maybe 50 or so Motherships "tier 2 Carriers" exist in a game with 33k or so peak users on at once, and 150k+ active subscribers. You might "MIGHT" own a Mothership one day, but don't hold your breath, and it's doubtfull you'll ever get titan.
In price tags, a Carrier will set you back about 1 billion "if youre REALLY dedicated and willing to wait a year, maybe". A Mothership about 14 billion "unlikely". and a Titan about 160 billion "don't hold your breath". Plus it will of course require an existing PoS infrastructure working for a significant period of time. __________________________ Why babelfish is bad mmm k "which the night do not expect that it calls the primary education before becoming deformed inside" |

Edited by: Reficul Lived on 24/12/2006 05:50:58 You underestimate people, I have 1B in my wallet, and have spent a total of maybe 1.5B on BPO's already and I am only 4 and 1/2 months old, only play a bit. If you are interested, you will find a way. The hardest part about it would be building it, the skills will just take about or over a year depending on your attributes and where your skills are now. but right now, I am all about industry. Maybe one day I will have the stuff to build one and you will have the skills to fly one, who knows, anything is possible.
*Edit* I hate the forum character post swapping problem here. This is Asimov Andies.

but on-topic, can motherships make money by doing trade runs? how far can they warp and are there many limitations? yes, if you have a mothership, using it as a hauler might not seem wise but if you could get a ton of goods between 1.0 space and 0.0 space that would be a huge profit right?
Cant open a cyno in .5 or above, so no cap ships there so youd have to ferry from a .4 to the 1.0 in a hauler

Edited by: Himo Amasacia on 24/12/2006 07:52:25 Carriers have the longest jump range (carriers not motherships) at 6 light years. At basic level it uses 1000 isotope fuel per light year, but skills can halve that, and skills can double the jump range.
Its have to quantify a distance as its a sphere around the system you are in and the eve map is a 3d one. So you cant really give a straight answer in jumps.
