Most changes in EVE take 6 months to settle in.
Example: For the first month after the missile changes came in a couple years ago, people complained about how worthless these changes made their Raven. 6 months later people were complaining about how overpowered the Raven was. No game mechanics were changed in those six months, just took that long for things to settle. |

So far in this thread I've seen: 1) Dark Shikari state that it takes 1700 hacking components to make an interface. 2) Noir state that it takes only 170 for module interfaces. 3) Noir state that BPCs for said module interfaces are available for 3 bil 4) lots of flames, rants, and complaints.
All I have to add is this: An Abaddon BPO costs 1.6 bil. I expect a good interface is probably worth at least that much.
A ship interface costs 1700. A module interface costs 170. So, if a module interface is worth 3 bil, how much do you think is a ship interface worth which costs 10 times as much? 20 bil?
This is a bit more than one Abaddon BPO.

Then let me show you the logic:
CCP is heavily dependant on costumer feedback. If they see that noone is using something and everyone who tried it said "it's a waste of time" what do you think they will do?
- keep it as it is? - boost it's strength/effeciency and/or make it more accessible?
Well, they certainly haven't fixed bombers, have they? Despite all of the flak they've caught about them, even Digitalcommunist's complete bashing of them in Eve's own publication?
No, CCP might listen... but response depends on how the changes will affect their in-game BoB alts.

Originally by: Lady Noir The simple fact is, anyone who knows where the main sites for collecting components are can easily gather enough components in a day or two to build a module data interface which they can then use to invent forever.
Oh, and where can I get a blueprint for this module interface or ship interface? 10/10 complex in the ass***** of 0.0 camped by some braindead alliance elites? Following some pointless exploration tree... into the ass***** of 0.0 where the local braindead alliance will instantly scan down the plex and strip it bare before I've even activated the first gate?
Just as they attempted to do (and failed miserably at) when they released Exodus they want to force everyone out of empire and into the fishbarrel of 0.0 where the established elites (q.v. alliances mentioned above) would enjoy the open season on fish-in-barrels?
Every attempt CCP makes to force people into 0.0 has failed, and all future attempts to force the issue will fail. Even openly allowing huge macro mining fleets protected by the invicibility of NPC corps did not force people out of Empire in any greater numbers.

Not yet, no, but tux said they plan "something special" for them. So they are aware of the problem and have plans to fix it.
And I would say 1 single, rarely used shipclass is of less importance of a global new mechanismn like invention. Take, for example, how fast the problems with the salvage drops got fixed.

16 bil for a ship interface is probably reasonable if one can expect to make it back in under 2 years. Whether that is actually possible, I don't know. I do know though, that I have a bad habit of going shopping whenever my wallet hits 4 bil, so I don't think I would ever actually buy something so expensive.
P.S. I wouldn't be surprised if some T2 modules are more profitable than HACs. I know Inv Field IIs sell for more than 15x their production cost, so I'd expect it to be easier to make money inventing them than inventing HAC's which at best get 10x production cost. |
