Dito for me .... I am sticking to mining for now since continual periods of freezes seems like a dangerous occurance when hunting rats ...

Edited by: Elain Reverse on 25/12/2006 10:03:34 Same happening to me and its not my computer problem (opteron 170, 2G ram 7900GT as well as my new notebook with C2D), freezing for few seconds multiple times each minute (mostly if doing some action - right click menu selection, screen rotation, opening menu etc).

Turn off sound. Disable shared devices like printers, folders, 'network shares', etc. If you have some software running in the background like DBs, servers, whatever, disable them for testing.
Check your antispyware software, and the pseudo-virus-detection programs. They often have a periodic check enabled for the currently active programs, boot records and whatnot. You only need them if you're surfing the web anyway as a virus or worm doesn't create itself suddenly out of nothing - and if it did, the software would not be able to detect it anyway.
Grab an uptodate selfbooting Linux-CD or -DVD with antispy and virusdetection stuff and slot that in.
Do you have some browser addons active like ie. Forecastfox? --*=*=*--
The cause for this is not yet known, but we do have a possible fix in testing. by Sharkbait | 2006.09.20 |

Check if you have some programs running in the backround. Like cpu/gpu monitoring software or something like that......

I'm getting the same issue. I'd just like to add that restarting EVE seems to fix it for a little while at least.

I have the problem, i found that it was caused by alt-tabing while in full screen. to resolve it i just alt-enter twice (change to windowed then back o full screen) and it's gone. now i just play windowed, no more 2 seconds freeze.

I was having the same problem a while back and couldn't figure it out. I had the problem on my desktop, not my laptop so I realized it wasn't an EVE problem. I fixed mine by installing the latest drivers for my Processor from AMD. I've got an AMD64 X2 4200+.

I was having the same problems, come to find out it was the software that came with my ATI card - catalyst softwere - uninstalled it just put the driver back on and everything was running fine.

I'm also having the same problem, upgraded my GFX card just to see if that's what the problem was and no luck. Rebooting EVE or rebooting my computer fixes it for a minute or so--although rebooting my PC tends to fix for longer... It's awful, though, I can't do any missions any more.

One thing you guys are not saying is what Card your using. Like I said above I just upgraded my video card to a ATI X1300 and was getting that problem all I did to solve it was to uninstall the catalyst softwere that came with it and just installed the drivers and everything is running fine. Also check and see if there is new drivers for your cards.
