I have created some new characters with the new skill allotments. It is overall pretty good. The one hang up I have on it as someone who likes missile boats is your starting missile skill is 250 in missile launcher operation; which by itself is useless. Why is it that gunnery skills are at nearly 67k and missile skills are basically non existent? I know is's a trope that Fozzie hates the missiles, but I mean really? Funneling new folks away from missiles right off the bat? Please CCP do some justice here and give the newbies the option to equip missiles as a legit weapon system. Not everyone is a fan of turrets. |

P.S. Drones start out with 500 skill points and that's supposed to be a secondary weapon system. Still useless skills until you train a skill like scout drones; however 250 skill points could be rolled into something else. Like maybe light missiles, with just a few more skill points a new guy might even be able to use missiles. |

I haven't created a character in a long while, so I could be completely wrong, but don't your starting skills depend on your race ? Would make sense for a Gallente new pilot not to have any missile skills to start with, just as it would be logical than a Caldari one gets some missile stuff, along with a few hybrid skills. |

When I started, your race, ethnicity, and choice of schooling and focus of study on that school all factored into your starting skills. I thought it was a pretty good system.
Then they drained as much RP out of this MMORPG as they could manage. Instead of playing a character you were just flying internet spaceships, and skills stopped defining who you were but only what you could do. That's why you have people wanting to refund sp from what are now unused skills, rather than caring that they are a memento of the week you spent trying your hand at something different before realizing the game only supports direct combat professions with a bias to predatory PvP combat.
Now all characters start the same, with all your choices at character gen determining your starting system and flavor of newbie ship. |

This is no longer the case. New characters are pretty much cookie cutter now with the only difference being the type of turrets you get skills for when you pick a race. I created a Caldari and got 67k in hybrid turrets and just 250 points for missile operation level 1. |
