I have two accounts currently, each with a different purpose, one is mainly a pvp'er going for hac and what not while the other is primarily industrial based and when it gets around to it, he will be my capital pilot since he's got all the drone skills for carriers. My problem is that I am thinking about putting both accounts on inactive status for the upcoming semester at school because I'm taking a rather difficult load and don't want to be distracted (nothing wrong with my corp, just don't want to feel the temptation). I know that if I turn the accounts off for that 6 month period, that I can have one skill training but as soon as that is done, then the accounts die for the next 5 months (can't find anything longer than 45ish days).
I am thinking about giving the accounts to another person for the period of time that I will not be in the game, but dunno how that would turn out. If anyone here would be willing to take these characters on, please mail me in game or respond to this and I'll get in touch. The main reason i'm looking for alternate solutions would be so that neither character wastes 5 months of valuable training time (roughly 5mil sp which would = max gunnery or some other fabulous gift). _______________________________________________

Might I suggest reading the EULA? What you're asking for is against the EULA and will get your accounts banned, you cannot give access to your accounts to another person.

But he can transfer the characters to other accounts. That is completely allowed.

Well if you have a nice friend playing EVE and he's willing to flip the skills on them, you could.
Start two new accounts , one for each of the characters, in your friends name or have him start 2 new accounts. Then transfer one to each of the accounts (15 euro ? fee) and close your own accounts.
This way is completely legal and is not circumventing the Eula as simply giving the accounts to your friend would.
In 6 months when you return, you pay your friend, either ingame iskies or real life isk, to transfer both of the chars back to your original accounts you then reactivate.
All in all this method would cost you: 2 X transfer fee for two accounts, 60 Euros approx.
Of course there is the problem of the paying for the accounts your friend creates, but eitehr wire him the money or let him use the chars ingame to pay for it.

Also, I think with Kali they changed the bit where your char's current training keeps going when account is inactive (=you stop paying ). So, sorry to break the bad news, but it seems it doesn't matter if the longest training you can find is 43 days or 43 hours. The momment your account goes inactive, skills stop training...
, but I guess it's good against exploiting etc

Thanks to all that have mailed me in-game. I've been on vacation with the family and have had difficulty finding a ethernet jack. I'd like to clarify, I cannot pay for the accounts, which is another reason I will be suspending them. I know this may seem like I'm just trying to be a douche and get people to pay for my account, but I would just like to make sure everyone knows so it isn't some great suprise.
The industrial character will have refining effeciency 5 and production efficiency 5 by the time i turn them off (and be able to fly a hulk), and the other character will be a hac, inty, af, dictor, and bs pilot with the ability to fly a recon in less than a month.
I will literally be giving the characters to the person (i will pay transfers) and they can do whatever they want with the characters (just make sure that they have more sp than when I give them) just so long as they don't come back to me with the entire eve universe wanting to have them dead.
Get 11mil and 8mil toons without the hassle of raising them urself. _______________________________________________

Nah, here we go:
"On the Serenity server, skills no longer train when the owning account is deactivated. Tranquility is not affected by this change. " (from Patch note here: http://myeve.eve-online.com/updates/patchnotes.asp?patchlogID=99&sid=205980961)
So you're ok :)

I would seriously suggest you finding some RL friend of yours to handle those characters.
Or, if that is impossible, sell the 8M char, and use the ISK to buy couple 30 days GTCs to switch skills few times on the 11M char.
Chances to get your characters back after giving them to some random Eve fellow are rather slim. Although CCP covers char transfers against scams, there is no precedent of them getting involment on such give-back-after-period contracts.

Edited by: Arleonenis on 03/01/2007 13:18:53 yep i wouldnt sugest giving them away too... thats quite slim chance to get them back later... its very possible you will saw those chars on auction in same hour you transfer them, i dont even talk about all those stuff you have in hangar they will be just cherry on top to lots of scammers
much safer and profitable will be just deactivating those accounts till you get back.. better to have this 8 or 11m sp you have now than 800k and fresh start
Im not english native speaker, so for all those US players that think english is the language of the universe: dont point mistakes or write something in my language so I can laugh |

Maybe sell both your chars, hold the isk on your noob char, and buy a nice char or two when you get back?
