Edited by: Sinjek on 26/12/2006 13:43:25 The first idea did not seem to draw much interest so I have reworked the rules to incorporate something most EVE pilots like - ship destruction.
I would like to announce the first Tecron Survivor Tournament, which is simply a 1v1 Cruiser PVP tournament.
This is mainly a trial run, on a small scale to test its feasibility and the existing rules that I have created.
This first tournament will only have spaces for 16 competitors at 10 Milliion ISK entry fee - This is so that I can keep it small and manageable to see how well it really works. I ask for the competitors to be willing to lose ships, their entrance fee, experience unfair tactics, be willing to provide input, etc... So that I can work to make the tournament fairer in the future.
So, to the rules:
- 16 competitors, 8 fights leaving 8 competitors, onwards until a final of 1V1.
- Prize fund is as follows: 1st = 60% or entrance fees, 2nd = 30% - This will change to include a 3rd prize (45,25,10)
- 1V1 combat only, using Tech 1 cruisers only.
- For the first tournament tech 1 fittings only - May change in subsequent tournaments.
- Combat will take place in a selected low-sec system, using can flagging methods to ensure legal combat. The location is given to participants only.
- No ECM modules to be used
- Ship scanners will be used to ensure that no bypassing of ship restrictions occur, a list of your fit must be provided to the referee before the match takes place.
- Ship destruction is the method of deciding who wins the fight.
- If you are found to bypass one of these rules, a warning will be issued and disqualification from the current tournament, and a subsequent bypass will recieve a ban from all future tournaments.
This is all I can think of at the moment, please post any thoughts/ideas here.
Applications are to be sent to me in game, along with the entry fee.
I do ask only for this initial tournament for pilots who are willing to try out the system and not people who will whine over something.
I am also looking for people interested in joining Tecron enterprises to help with running future tournaments.

Sounds good, I think it should be held in lowsec.

Might be interesting - what do you mean exactly by 'no ECM modules' ? No jammmers, obviously, but how about painters or tracking disruptors etc. Also, how about ECM drones? Finally, I suppose that by T1 only, you mean no faction items --------------------------------------------

Good points.
To clarify, I hope. ECM = jammers only, anything that breaks the opponents lock. All other forms, dampening, painters are fine. If you are unsure, you can enquire before the match.
T1 being you raw basic kit, yes, no faction. This is to reduce the cost of losing ships.
I really would have though there would be more interest in this... I mean, 10 mill + 10 mill or so for a ship for free, fun PVP. and the chance to win (this time) 60 or so mill.

What about warping during the fight? What about starting ranges?
Why no ECM? If you didn't want to be jammed, you should've hardened against it.
What is to keep this from being dominated by Caracals?

Ummm. I'd love to answer those as I have perfectly good answers, however, due to a distinct lack of interest, I'm not doing it.
However, reason why it wont be dominated by caracals? Cos not everyone can fly the things, and everyone can fit an MWD

Edited by: Skybar on 05/01/2007 09:41:34 What about Rigs? Not that I would use any, but still should be mentioned?
And I'd be happy to join into this kind of thing, however being near -10 makes me quite limited as I do not wish to jump very far.

From my experience as a pirate, I've never lost a fight versus a caracal 1 on 1 when I've been flying a cruiser.
You could easily get a sensor damp or two on that caracal and it wouldn't be able to lock you before you are orbiting at 5k with input close range ship of choice.
The fact that you wouldn't need a scrambler gives for some extra EW possibilities aswell. Please resize e-peen to a maximum of 150x40R, not exceeding 0.5kg, ty. If you would like further improve epeen please mail [email protected] - Rocco |

Can you use pirate drop equipment, and will there be some boundaries to prevent the guy who builds the fast ship that you can't catch, but they can't kill you?

Isn't it typical.. I get more posts/interest AFTER I decide there isn't enough.
Boundaries - Good idea, would have to see what effects there are though before implementing anything.
I guess, if you are interested. EVE mail me and try and grab a few people to try it. I won't do anything until there are enough people to try it out though.

I am interested, and if I could work out the scheduled I'd volunteer to be in the first 16.
A couple more questions:
What about technical knock-outs? If two contestants are locked in combat but neither is able to destroy the other, is there a time limit and some way to determine a technical winner?
Will it be legal to change fittings between matches? My vote would be no.

As per a time limit, I'd say 10 minutes for now.
For changing fittings, I don't see why you couldn't, but if a decent reason is presented at any stage then this can be reviewed.
I'll add both your names to the list, and EVE-mail you with any updates. But afaik I'm still short of over 10 people.

My idea for locking loadouts is, people should work to come up with a good general purpose loadout. If you can change loadouts between matches, I feel like it is hiring ringers between races. You are good on oval, but can't do street courses, so you get someone to race for you. Blah....

Ok.
Going to turn this into an 8v8 to begin with. I beleive we have 3/4 people who are interested and I can probably grab a few corpies from my main to have a go. Just a few more people to spend a few mill to have some fun.

And former corpmate of mine mentioned the idea of a sideboard. I wouldn't mind people changing their loadout, so long as they only swapped modules/drones for what they had in their sideboard.
Question is, how big should the sideboard be? I say anywhere from three to six modules and from 1x to 2x your drone bay.

Not a bad idea. I think for this first time, keep it as the same fit all the way through, and see how it plays out.
6 people have voiced interest in here, if I can grab 2 corp mates then were all set.

Are named (non-faction) T1 modules allowed, or only basic T1 items? Some of the best named items cost more than the t2 equivalent... ------
So you're lagged out in Motsu/Saila/Aramachi, but you want that CNR? Do missions for another corp! |

Edited by: Daravel on 29/01/2007 23:15:53 It is named items as well, as basic tech 1 can have server fitting restrictions... the amount you spend will depend on the risk your willing to take
As we have all 8 of the particpants, just waiting for confirmation on their places, I will send out a full rule set to each of you.
Of course, if you think of any rules/ideas that you think are needed then please tell me, this is a trial afterall.
Invasions will be met with hostility and flying marshmallows!

I think you should consider banning cloaks, otherwise people could sneak off during fights and do all kinds of nasty things, including docking and changing modules, and no-one would be much the wiser.
I assume that there isn't going to be any limit on how far people can travel (without warping) during fights? ------

except you cant cloak when your targetted, and youd need to uncloak before warping unless you manage to fit a cov ops cloaing device on your cruiser..
but if someone wants to waste a highslot on a perfectly useless cloaking device, i think they outta be able to.

As of now, all the slots for this tournament are filled, pending confirmation from each of the participants.
However, I will keep your names in case we fall short of the required 8. Also, I will contact you directly for the next tournament to give you first choice on entry.
