look at me! I got into a BS when I had 8mil SP and I still thought I was not prepared!
I have T2 large turrets and T2 tank and I still am not comfortable in a BS.
indeed, i just started flying a bs at 12.5m sp... before that it was mostly cruisers. ---------------------------

I'm the odd one out I guess, I feel more comfortable in a Geddon at 3 mil sp than I ever have in anything smaller.
But then I know how to fit and fly it :)

But not 1.4 million SP!
There's got to be a ton of necessary skills completely untrained or at level 2, max...

because you can get much more money in a Battleship than on a cruiser or BC. I got my tempest at 2M SP. I may not be able to get all it can deliver, but I can for sure make more money than i was doing with a BC. Of course, would never lead it to pvp, but for simple money making its great. The 2 most important skills for it Large guns and the battleship i had at level 3, so quite enough for starter. If brute force doesn't solve your problem.. then you are not using enough!! |

Ignore everybody else and listen to your old Amarr Uncle Stamm.
Get into a battleship as soon as you can, there's no disadvantage to being in one. But make sure it's the right battleship, the Apocalypse, until you at least have V/IV in your two cap skills, and Amarr Battleship IV.
Back when I was a nub, I was in an Apoc before I could use large turrets, and I did much better in that than I did in a prophecy.

All these people are jealous of you for being able to afford a battleship at such a young age. If you can "activate ship", you can fly it. Flying it well is a relative term - I have lots of skillpoints and I can't fly any of my ships well tbh.
With 2.3 mil you can get yourself plenty of small/medium weaponry and modules. The arma is an excellent ship which will accommodate your character for a long time, only getting better and better as you gain skillpoints

The fact that someone never flied a BS at 10 20 0r 30 M Sp is no justificative for anyone else not using it. Someone could have a 30 MSP charactra with only frigate level 1.... that should make everyone not fly any other ship?
If you never tried a BS with several million SP.. bad for you.. you are loosing a lot of fun. If I could not have already achieved capability of flying BS i would have quit eve far long ago. I need to chage style of gaming almost daily or i get bored. If i had to stay with cryuiser I would simply quit. If brute force doesn't solve your problem.. then you are not using enough!! |

i think more important than any of these posts are the fact that if u have 2.3mil before buying the ship as u say then u can't even afford the geddon.

I wouldnt recommend fitting a bs with 2.3 million isk, or flying one with 1.4 mil skill points
UNLESS
lvl 2 whorage
small/med guns, bucket load of light drones, large rep (or 2x med), cap mods (tbh, low skills, might as well add a couple just to make sure) and something resembling 3x hardners, then just wap an AB in the mids along with a web, and inertia stabs/nanofibers in lows for speed.

Hell, I've got nearly 22m sp in combat and ship related skills, and I still can't fly anything larger than a Cruiser/HAC.

I want to help the guy out, but part of me just can't get over the fact that he's going to get spanked with that amount of experience and lack of cash.
Honestly, don't fly it - if you ignore my advice, that's fine, just make sure you afford it and ease yourself into flying it. Don't say "I have a BS now, level 4 missions time!" to run into a deadspace area with cruiser guns and 3 medium reppers going and then complain about how you weren't able to beat it, we will laugh at you and point out that you're too young for it. I'd use it to mine for awhile to get some cash for a decent tank and fittings, as well as insurance.

If you really MUST use a battleship for level 2 missions at least fit the damn thing accordingly
Bs Sized guns are NOT best suited for frigate type NPC's.
High's 6 Heavy Beam Laser I (Tbh.... Medium Beam I would work ) 2 Large Smartbombs
Seriously though, Why get into a slow assed ship you cant fly properly You would be quicker doing level 2 missions in a Maller.

Well to be honest im hovering around 114M so I was thinking going back to a cruiser may be a good idea...as a battle cruiser would sap most of my money just for the ship...

A Prophecy with insurance is around 30m and you probably already have lots of equipment you could use on it from you've already listed you have on your Armageddon. You'd have to drop to medium armor repairers but you should be fine. The Prophecy not only looks good, it *is* good

I would agree, cruiser (for me anyway) is fine for LVL2 missions. I am using a Caracal with heavy missiles and a pair of active resistance mods (among other goodies) and the missions are more or less doable. Only twice did I hit a mission where I had to warp out. Both times had been because I was attacking tougher ships of npc types I had never seen before while the easier ones pounded me with missiles. Live and learn ! If you have a bunch of cash lying around you can always buy fittings that might later be usable on a T2 fitted battleship.
