i was just got to thinking as to why they had the hp bonus with revelations. for ratters the idea is to have enough tank and all that to outlast them, so giving them an hp bonus just takes longer to kill and i havnet noticed that they are worth any more to kill. like wise with missions, you have to outlast them with shiled boosters and whatr not, so the hp bonus dosnt help you, it just takes that much longer to kill them.
for pvp it means that it takes longer to kill your oponent, the only person i see profiting from this is the pvp pilot getting killed so he has longer to call for backup or try and make it to the stargate or whatever.
correct me if im wrong, but this is how i see it

thats exactly why it was done... the devs wanted that battles last a bit longer, so you have more time to do things

Check the devblogs. There were one or two that specifically discussed why they were boosting HPs.

If i'm understand you correctly your talking about NPCs.
NPCs didn't get a HP increase with revelations, only Player ships did.
This was done to extend (mainly player vs player) combat to allow for features coming in future that would just be silly without it. -----

PVE: Rats did not get HP increase. Players did - players win.
PVP: Fights last longer, meaning that fights are more fun, meaning that more fights will happen, meaning that EVE itself becomes a great deal more fun for those that do PVP. But it also means that the victims of a ganker have a chance to live long enough to reach the gate and survive. Again, players win. Not just pirate-players, ALL players...

Edited by: Samuel Freedom on 26/12/2006 23:24:49 Well I thought it was because of suicide ganking........
Because now you can create a char from the get go to be a suicide ganker, can you not ?
The hp boost is to counter all the alt n00b suicide ganking, i.e give more time for concord to come >?
I have not been playing for long, its just what I thought lol

Attacking another player in high sec in a high damage output ship, usually attacking haulers, to destroy them, and then have a mate/alt grab their stuff.

they still need to double HP and half DPS so that in PVP its like star trek and you have lots of time to think

halving dps, that would make it so i officialy couldnt rat anymore, i can barley beat the 0,0 rats shiled boosters, plus then they would have FOREVER to get to the gate

Surely getting rid of lag would be the priority as it would both give us more time than jumping in and noticing we are egged or our ship is dead. Also, less lag = better reaction time.

Boring? Nothing against Star Trek I like the show but if it took that long I would fall asleep.
Oh also, Supermega tanking BS and captials.

Oh god, Star Trek combat will see a whole new meaning on the Social skills, Fast Talk with those Ferengi traders and Diplomacy with the BoB. Please shoot me now... No, my stuff was left to medical science, they wanted to analyse my phycology, you cant have it when I quit

QUICK! INVERT THE FLUX CAPACITOR TO EMIT A SUBSTANDARD TACHYON PULSE ON ROTATING FREQUENCIES!
Unfortunately, with non-Newtonian physics and three-dimensional space being useless in EVE, the game is pretty well set up for a switch to Star Trek boredom, err, combat.

I never heard Picard say, "Jump in dreads, crash the bloody node or [insert bad thing in here] will happen!"
But yea, we have warp drive already, but the Enterprise wasnt limited to EM/thermal damage last I checked... BTW, I havent watched the show in years tbh... hasnt been on BBC2 in a long time...
