(By the way, this may sound as if it belongs in the pirate forum but I think it should be here.) Ever since I started eve, I have had a dream of pirating the way I have read about as a child, through ransoming. Though this appears very hard I have formulated a plan for this, it basically involves using a falcon, following a victim who is going into a belt or complex to rat (while cloaked) and then jamming and webifying them once they engage the npcs.
So then I could hold them there while they get slowly killed by the npcs and ask for a suitible payment to let them go. Now pre revelations this seem'd an easy fun way to get cash but now i'm wondering if a falcon can permantly jam a single ship? And if so how reliable is it?

Depends on the ship you want to jam, your skills and fittings. Falcon with t2 multispecs will have no problem jamming smaller ships, but I wouldnt bet on permajamming a bs after nerf. T2 Racials are better, but you have to have the right type for the job at hand - and I dont think 1 t2 racial will keep anything permajammed (assuming you have 1 of each racial).

Forget the falcon for solo piracy. Farting on the opposing ship would probably do more damage.
Its very good for small gang work, and it's also very good for moving valuable stuff around too.

The falcon does near to no damage, as the above poster said. If you wish to do that type of combat, then the best bet would probably be being in a pilgrim or arazu. Falcon deffinately isnt the ship.

Yea but providing i can permanatly jam and web the other ship I would have no need to do damage as the npcs would do it for me. so it sounds like it could work on crusiers and smaller but then how reliable is it on jamming a single BS with T2 multispec ecms?

Nope - Reason being, you wont jam them 100% of the time.
You need a web and a scramble firstly. So thats 5 slots for ecm. If you dont know what theyre flying, then its multispecs - Lets say theyre in a cruiser. So...you will have to jam a target for a good few minutes PROVIDING he cant tank the rats indeffinately. the chances of doing that constantly, is rather small. Imo, its relatively pointless. Youre better off going for a pilgrim.

Falcon is support ship. Get a warp in spot for your gank team and jam the target. Get out if targeted. It is not a solopwn machine for pirating.

Rapiers can do pretty nicely in solo pirating if you pick your targets.

Falcon isnt really any good for what you want to do allthough i have solo'd in it before but it was very very slow and painful. The damage output on it is pitiful and since your mid-slots are taken up by ECM and tackling gear you have no defence if all your jammers fail.
A Pilgrim ,Rapier or even Arazu will do what you want though as they have a much better damage output.

If you want to solo pirate, get yourself a pilgrim.

Unless they are heavily range dependant, the npcs wouldn't really matter, they would just kill them like they planned to anyway. If you fit ECM i suppose.

Lol. Pretty much lol.
In a falcon used for permajamming a ship, you have pretty much no tank. The two light drones of a caracal could kill you if you use this tactics. Any Vexor that gets a single lock on you will rip you apart.
Get into a blackbird and try this on frigs. You will soon notice it's time to figure out other ideas. My idea was skilling for a sensor dampening speed lachesis, orbiting the enemy at 50km while warp disrupting and dampening it. I think my idea sounds nicer than yours.
