I have been playing eve and running missions for 2 and half months, and been doing lvl 3 missions without a problem. I have a raven with this setup:
6 limo cruise launchers (will buy tech 2 stuff for lvl4)
2 heavy nos
1 cap recharger
3 specific hardners
1 xl booster (i will get gist stuff when i can afford it)
1 xl boost amp (debating to put two)
3 pdu
1 bcu
1 control damage
and have 3 million skillpoints, including 1 million in learning.
The forums are great in telling us noobs how to equip our ships, but i can't find a good source of what skills to bring up to five or to an appropriate level for lvl4 missions.
Any help would be appriciated

The skills you want at level 5 are the skills that you depend on.
All cap skills and shield hp/boosting related skills for a start. Then the applicable fitting skills (weapons/adv weapons upgrades...) then try fitting 6 siege 2's or cruise 2's with 2 heavy nos.

lol I completed my first 2 level 4 missions at 1.4million SP ina BC :P
If brute force doesn't solve your problem.. then you are not using enough!! |

You dont want "gist stuff" just a gist booter. The Gist Amps do very little over regular amps.
I would make sure to at least use a T2 booster in the mean time.

With that setup, you can probably start doing the easier level 4 missions now. There are a few posts around here listing the good/bad missions, and as always, do the mission research on EVEinfo.com first to make sure you are set up correctly.
You will soon realize where your strengths and weaknesses are which will guide you on what skills you need to focus on. Best advice, kill the ships that can scramble you first, and don't hang around when you find yourself constantly boosting, your raven will most likely die soon, so get out of dodge while you can.

Engineering, Shield Op, Weapons Upgrades, Electronics to 5 for sure. Work on Learning first IMO as it shortens the time to learn the skills (long term).

thanks for the replies,
it confirms what i thought, concentrate on the basics then get the skills you need to fit the better tech 2 equipement.
but, lol, i have a friend that says i need min 10M skill points to do lvl4 missions, and here i get a post with 1.5M skill points doing some.
kind a puts care into "carebear".

I can do them with 4 mill sp in my Rokh.
The harder ones require warpouts but as long as you concentrate and always deal with any scramming ships first there's no major worries.
Would be much easier in a Raven but I hate em

There are some very strange ppl out there who says you need a few billion sp before you start level IVs. If you use a raven you can probably solo they easily with 3 mill sp in the relevant skills (learnings included). At least now that you can fit 3 cap recharge rigs.
I`d change the cap recharge with a cap booster 800 and 1 specific hardeners for an invuln tho.
Thats the setup I had when I started level IVs with a bit over 3 mill sp. (I used arb launchers)
