The Archon is about twice its length and three times its size overall! Is there some story background explaining why the bloody ship is so bloody small compared to the other factions' counterparts or did someone just mess up when scaling it originally?

I have a screen shot of a corpmate Chimera next to my Domi, and his carrier is smaller than my BS...... Something is a tad out of wack.

I remember a story with the Chimera, but cant remember all the details its been a while. One of the famous Caldari generals or something died in one in the Gallente/Caldari war over New Caldari. I dont know if that explains the size, but if its supposed to be a flagship or something it might be comprable in size to Gallante bs's especially for the timeline. But in any case just remember that caldari ships are a lot smaller anyway.

All the other capital Caldari ships are comparable in size to the other races' ships. The Chimera is just messed up.

The Caldari battleships are also tiny compared to other races' (take a look at the ship comparison chart).
From reading ship descriptions and some of the backstory, it seems that the State has a much more modern and higher-tech navy than the other nations. Presumably Caldari ship designs are more compact, with miniaturized components.

If you look at the ship you will notice that the center is actually at the ass end of the ship. Something tells me that somebody somewhere screwed up and made the ship about 2/3 actual size...

It's lore-based. The Caldari Navy started out as small one-man fighters working in tandem and ever since spacecraft design has focused on compact, utalitarian chassis. The tradeoff is the racially large mass concentration all Caldari ships are plagued with.

It was said sometime ago that the chimera had to be resized because it caused crashes with the client when you undocked, so they cut it down to half size. Unfortunately they did'nt redo the shield and central rotation point.
Chances are that it will be redone with the dx9 models
