I am not sure if you notice the same it is looking that we lost half of players playing the best game ever. My few colleague left game lately as it began to be to expensive for them to play.
Challenge I see is PLEX price few years ago it was 200M now is 1.2B but ships, weapon etc. price did not become few hundreds % more expensive. Additional PLEX/GTC for real money is twice more expensive compering to different MMO/Online games. We have now situation that players playing a lot and when do not have very good corporation just bleed trying to gather money for 1 PLEX . From second side people that are buying PLEX in real life become billionaires and can manipulate market what basically is killing this game.
We have got exactly the same situation few years ago in real life in Saudi Arabia where basically food product were so expensive that people started to starve. Then the Sheikh fix praises for same product and it is working for very long time.
I have Idea to set max price for PLEX at 500M ISK ( at Market and in Contracts) and when someone would like to sell his PLEX will go a little below this price to make his offer interested.
If you have different idea please post them here - I truly do not want this game to die. If we do not do anything next year PLEX price will be 2B and game will die. |

If you cant afford to pay that, I can confidently say you should not be spending your time playing video games.
The market determines the price of plex. If you cant make enough in game to afford it, quite frankly you are not putting in enough effort or you are not very good at the game.

I see you are missing pint of my post but you and I have same rights we are at opposite site - I want this game to have a lot of players for example just now you have 13k online at beginning of 2015 was 22k+ at the same time. From 2014 about 100 of my colleagues left game because of PLEX price and as player that would like to EVE I am trying to find solution. In 2014 were often we seen 30k+ online now we can just dream about it and recall god times.
I am still playing game and lvl up 2 chars in the same time but there is a lot of players that leaving game because of PLEX price.
For sure not this year but maybe next year or year after EVE Online will be like a desert and I do not what this. |

The price CCP charges for PLEX hasn't changed in the time I have been playing the game. $19.95USD with volume discounts and occasional sales.
Every PLEX in the game was originally purchased by someone for real world money and that isn't likely to change - CCP is a business and can't afford to give their product away.
In game, the price is set by supply and demand. If more people want to use PLEX to pay for game time than want to sell PLEX for ISK, the price (measured in ISK) will increase. |

You may be being optimistic. CCP have just unveiled another new use for PLEX, tailored towards the sort of players who can buy at any price. The speculators will very soon be at work pumping up PLEX price again in anticipation of this change.

Nobody is entitled to playing the game for no pay (Cash, is what I mean by that). Eve is not a Free2Play game.
One month is 20 bucks at worst - that's a tad more expensive than some other games, that cost 15 bucks or so, but that's not too far out of the line in my book. 20 bucks a month - that's the baseline to go from. Are you willing to pay 20 bucks a month for the game or not?
Buying PLEX with ISK is an option, sure, but it only changes who paid those 20 bucks - they are still being paid, just not by you, but by the player selling the PLEX on the market. You cannot expect another player to pay for your account with less of a compensation (ISK), and CCP cannot in the long term effectively lower the PLEX price without removing things you can do with PLEX (AUR/NES, Character Transfer) and by doing that, they'd also hurt their income.

So lets say CCP sets a limit of 500m for PLEX. Do you think you can play the game for free now ?
In reality, PLEX for this cheap would be sold out very soon as many people could afford it. So you sit in the station and wait infront of a dry market that someone puts up a PLEX that gets bought within seconds.
The only way that plex prices will go down is when ether less people want to buy plex from the market or more people buy a plex from CCP.
So what can you do ? Stop consuming plex and buy some from CCP. |

If you go to account manager from the eve launcher you can purchase game packages from 12.95 down to only 10.95 a month. Idk why people still insist on complaining about plex prices when they can easily pay for game time at a much cheaper price using this method. Still I would like plex prices to stabilize at 1 bill isk for an alternative method of paying for plex within game.

I love how people juggle figures to support their preferred outcomes. It's absurd to claim something that at one time cost 350 million ISK, that now costs 1 billion ISK is a no harm, no foul non-event noticed only by the naive, ill-informed or lazy.
I love how people who have a virtual economic interest in prices soaring claim it's not a bad thing, or something that begs notice and for the good of the "game" everyone should just pretend it's normal and go on with your business.
I love how people often claim the amount of time it takes to obtain items with in-game currency is so insignificant if you think it is significant you must suck at the game.
BUT, what brings the most joy to my heart is for whom the game is being tailored! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=450957&find=unread

I'm at total loss for words. I mean I really can't believe it. I thought Mr. Epeen was just trolling, but to my dumbfounded shock, he was actually serious. And like I thought, Eve is starting to lose it's REALNESS appeal for me. If this stupid crap sticks, then I may end up biomassing all my chars on all my accounts within the next 3 months when my subs run out. With this stupidity, the Hour Glass on Eve has been flipped and Eve's time is officially starting to die out now.

I honestly don't think there is much CCP can do at this point. EVE was always a niche game, but look at the MMO market now compared to when EVE began. It's even more niche than ever. Gamers are less receptive to the idea of long-term investment for their rewards.
Unless something drastic occurs I believe it's going to be a case of downsizing and milking the players whilst they can from hereon in. |

OK then when I buy PLEX from Markee Dragon I can sell them on the market for 500M or station trade them privately to someone for 1.1B
Obvious end result: zero plex on the market.

Unless something drastic occurs I believe it's going to be a case of downsizing and milking the players whilst they can from hereon in.
To the contrary, there are several effective options they could choose.

Real-life PLEX prices did not change, and the in-game ones didn't change because of CCP, but because of inflation - you see, you THINK that 1.2 billion ISK is a sh*tload of money, but what's really happening is ISK is losing it's value and slowly becoming worthless. This is because everybody nowadays is buying ISK to control the market. However, you'd think that since PLEX is in abundance, the price should go down. No, PLEX has an insanely high demand on the market and the prices will continue going up. I know a guy who bought 10 PLEX when they were 200 million and now he's swimming in ISK - however, I don't recommend investing in PLEX as it is a risky business and the prices can crash anytime now.
Oh, and CCP can't do anything about the prices - EVE's market is a capitalistic one, and the "state" (CCP) cannot intervene.

Maybe CCP could try something like allowing older players to sell some of their skill points to newer players. Mr Epeen
That's a crazy idea it will obvs never happen.

If EVE would be the one and only thing in the hole world you could get for your 15Gé¼ I would agree. I baked a game for 65Gé¼ which became crap so I got less fun/h for my money. I paid 15Gé¼ for another one once and played it over 400 hours ... so I got many fun/h from that one. I paid for a F2P game (I did not have to but as you said you might pay for your hobby) and got many hundrets of hour for well a few hundrets of Gé¼. So might be not the most efficient but I could login anytime to this accounts and could pick up if I feel I have to. I just paid as long as I used it and I may come back without coins. So it's not just the question if I have the money for my hobby but if I would pay money for that game. Why should I pay for EVE? If I login every day and play it many hours it would be worth it for sure. If I login just once a week or even less then it's pretty much pay for SP and that 2% more damage for 10Gé¼ could be pretty expensive in that case especially if you don't use it soon anyway. |

Like a week ago some glowy dude wearing nothing but a sheet surrounded by vape smoke or clouds and told me there would be a great flood. That I should build a Tayra and load it with 2 of every commodity and the provisions to last for 40 days.
Looks like dude was right cuz man some of these kids are crying up biblical floods.

a hobby is something which you enjoy, if you are not enjoying it then its no longer a hobby, you should leave if you dont think the game is worth it

There's a huge disconnect between the thread title and the content of the OP. The latter is just another whine about PLEx prices, and the answer to the former is: kill them. Kill them all (in-game).

PLEX price has nothing to do with the number of active players
Only inflation from effortless 0.0 anomalies and incursions blitz causes plex price to rise.
Eve started more than 12 years ago, most of the player base was made of students and people above 18 with extra spare time on their hands. Social status changes, people have more responsibilities, jobs, families, etc. Time forces people to quit.
Eve gameplay does not reward solo play. It drives some people away too. You can not win 2v1 easily, this also disturbs some players.

As a business CCP should focus on retaining paying subscribers, not appeasing freetards who think grinding a few rocks afk entitles them to a free lunch.
You can afford a PC, you can afford the electricity for that PC, you can afford the internet for that PC. You pay for all these things, why should CCP give you its product for free. Do you expect to go to the Cinema for free?
If you are plexing your account you are the hired minion of a player who is prepared to pay for your gametime in return for your game resources, how much they expect for that exchange is down to what the funder is willing to sell for, not CCP and not the magic plex fairy.

I do see where you are coming from where the connection of PLEX to the ingame economy creates a very real tangent to the financial class distinctions of the real world; where the ultra wealthy (that have some sense) can manipulate the economy in EVE in an artificial way by using mass amounts of their disposable economy to monopolize objects in game. In this same field of competition there is little hope for players with less income rates because more disposable income can just be pumped into the game offsetting whatever wealth you gain by using your own wealth.
PLEX prices in EVE work very much like oil prices, being that they are both commodity items with universal value. The problem with PLEX getting more expensive is that players are becoming wealthier and wealthier and can afford to pay more ISK for them. All in All, I can see OPs concern. PLEX prices can be very oppressive to people who have neither the time nor the funds to afford playing the game for much time, and that is not fair. This could lead to an odd distinction where players in countries (or states) with better economic conditions have a blatantly more privileged game experience, and suddenly there becomes a social gap between the wealthy and impoverished in the game where the impoverished just can't afford to do anything in game; largely because the wealthier not only have more time to play and then proceed to destroy the wealth of those with less time and funds, but also because they have better equipment and social connections to do so.
I am not an economic analyst, but I can see EVE devolving into generating a series of misfortunate real world parallels largely to the economies connection to PLEX.
On the other hand, unlike the real world, EVE doesn't have implicitly placed glass ceilings or awkward social barriers that hinder progress in game, does it? Ultimately, noblesse oblige solves all of these problems, (albeit while creating dozens more) but that is as likely to occur as it does in person. Right? |

Also, MMO style games that rely on a subscription based payment method are in decline in general. Not just EVE. Free-To-Play games are trendy in the gaming world, currently. |
