I have to say Salvaging seems to be working nicely. I collect a pile of loot to be melted, along with the occasional named item. This goes to the Corp. I get the profit of the rig parts. Space gets cleaned up.
I see 3 improvements that can/should be made:
1. Parts are to big right now. Each Rig takes at least 300 m3 of parts. I cannot use a frig to carry them to empire. With cargo expanders my garbage truck (Stabber) can carry enough for about 2 rigs.
Make them .1 m3 each?
2. Small Tractor Beams pull the item to about 1400 m. I get annoyed that the game constantly tells me the wreck is out of range - when it is not.
Have the beam pull items to 1k OR allow looting to 2k. I would prefer the 5k range of the salvager since this would also remove the 'bounce' factor.
3. Small Tractor Beams cannot be used on other corps wrecks. Presumably to prevent griefingThis means the salvager must have some speed, and thus limits setups tremendously. (i.e. Nano's instead of armor) I want to salvage under the noses of NPC Rats, but this is not really possible at the moment with a small ship.
Allow members of Alliances to tractor each others wrecks. If my Allies are stealing my wrecks, I have MUCH bigger problems than the loss of the loot.

Also, the salvager module should retrieve all loot from a wreck. Less RSI 4tw.

I'd rather you should be able to salvage a wreck, even if it has loot in it. Once the wreck is salvaged, it should turn into a normal can like we used to have from blown up NPCs.
That would save me having to loot every single bit of crap from all the things I blow up, just to salvage them!
