guess im doing something wrong here. can some1 tell what fitting he is using for a tempest do survive lvl 4 missions without having to warp out a few times or without changing the darn grid?
i tried to armor tank those missions but somehow this seems to be wrong. 1 large repper is barly enuff to keep up with incomming dmg, and if i use 2 reppers, i can just fit 4x1200mm scouts.
i trained all those armor compensation skillz to lvl 3 at elast, till i realized they affect passive hardeners only (make thos skills quite useless for my taste).
heres my current (quite crappy) setup
high 4x 1200mm scouts 1x e500 protoype energy vampire 2x drone links augs
mid 1x heavy electrochemical cap booster 1x paralele weapon transmitter (painter) 1x langour drive disruptor 1x orion tracking CPU
lows 2x tech2 large repper 2x rat speciffic harenders 1x tech2 gyro 1x 1600mm plate
i know its crappy but im changing my fitting pretty much everyday and i still havent found the right one. any usefull tips here? ------------------------- horray for typos |

6x 425mm auto's, 2x nos/smartbom(if you got lots of small frigs on you) 1x 100mn ab,web, the rest cap recharger II's 2x large rep, gyrostab, the hardners.(don't fit plates for mission its not the amount of hitpoints you have but the damage you can tank, hardners are better)
i did missions in this setup and the went well, its not a raven but hey, you fly a tempest you like a challenge ;) ______________________________________________________

Just to say it: I've never tried this, never done any lvl4 solo and have very limited access to any cool stuff as of yet - but well, some improvements would come to mind.
For Angel ratting, if you insist on armor tanking - the best explosive hardener you can get. The best thermal hardener you can get. T2 Dmg control - get it. Around 40 mill when I bought mine.. So I base this on what I can use myself:
Lows: N-Type (or better) Explosive Hardener N-Type Thermal Hardener Damage Control II Large Armor Repairer II Power Diagnostic System II if needed/capable, otherwise I'd use another repper
Meds: 3 x Fixed or Capacitor Recharger II Webifier of choice Lif Fueled Booster Rockets
Highs: 6 x Dual 650mm Prototype Repeating Siege Cannon Since we still have 2 slots free, 2 x medium NOS would be better than nothing. I presume you can't fit large ones or if you can, 1 large and 1 med.
-------------
As I said, and I will say it again - haven't tested this setup yet, don't know if everything fits even.. Just cooked it all up while reading this. But with sufficient skills, electronics V, engineering V, mechanic V, weapon upgrades at least IV, preferably V or adv. weap. upg., they should.
I will test this setup personally sometime later when I can.

Edited by: Tyler Lowe on 27/12/2006 18:36:04 A common mistake when people ask about fitting a Tempest for level 4's is in looking for a single fitting. Some missions work better with artillery, some with autocannon. Some are easier to armor tank, others easiest with a shield tank. There is no one fitting that does all of it well. The only module I find useful in almost all cases is an afterburner, and even then, in some missions, you simply do not need it. Since it looks like you are after an arty setup, here's an example:
Vs. Angels: 6x 1200mm 'scout' 2x 'arbalest' heavy missile launcher
1x tracking comp II 2x invulnerability field II 1x large shield boost II 1x 100MN Afterburner II
2x Gyrostabilizer II 1x Internal Forcefield Array I or Damage Control II 3x Power Diagnostic System II
5x Hobgoblin II 5x NPC spefic medium drones
Vs. Blood Raiders 6x 1200mm 'scout' 2x 'arbalest' heavy missile launcher
1x tracking comp II 1x 100MN Afterburner II 3x cap recharger II
1x Large Armor Repair II 2x Thermic Hardener II 1x EM Hardener II 2x Gyrostabilizer II
Fitting a Tempest for mission running isn't as straight forard as fitting a Raven out. Check on a site like Eveinfo.com and look at orbit distances to determine whether or not autocannon or artillery makes more sense, and then look at the damage types to see if shield or armor tanking is better. It's alot more work than some other races have to put in, but the slot layouts and weapons we use mean you'll have to do that work in order to be effective. If you're the sort of sick individual that enjoys putting in a tremendous effort to end up less well suited to the task than a Raven someone spent 15 minutes figuring out a fit for, you're going to love this race J.A.F.O.

i love minmatars thats why i took them. it just kinda annoys me to see people in ravens easily soloing those lvl 4 missions while i have to fight for my life.
looks like i have to put far more effort into preparing for missions. gotta try that autocannon fitting :) ------------------------- horray for typos |

Stop This Madness!!!1
Angels do EXP and KIN! Not Thermal.
Autocannons are better anyway. Do more damage, get the job done faster. I like using double webs.
What's the unicode for "heart"?

Correction.
Angels do primarily Explosive and Kinetic, but also do Exp (missile)/Thermal(guns) and Exp(missile)/EM(guns), in particular the elite inties and higher level battleships. Angel Sentries can also do EM.
Autocannon are also not neccesarily "better" or "faster", due to time lost chasing down npc's for 60km in deadspace (no MWD) one at a time. There are a very few missions where autocannon work well enough to be faster than artillery overall. Pirate Invasion (angel), Infiltrated outpost, and the second gate of Silence the Informant come to mind, although overall, it's simply easier to fit 1200mm on StI and kite even the merc portion of the mission to avoid refitting mid way through.
