I'm positive it may have been posted about in the past, but ever since Revelations was released almost EVERY planet and station appear to me and several corp-mates as if they are "tearing apart". The planet tears show the middle area of the planet fine, while the edges of the planet look like they are being shredded away from the planet.
The station tearing appears in a more infrequent manner. When I use the camera to zoom in on the stations, all of them seem as if they are a discombobulated mess and dont even resemble a station at times.
I was wondering if there may be a graphical workaround for this problem or do we just have to wait for lazy @$$ CCP to "get around to it"?

Can you post some screenshots of the effect(s) please?
Are you using the most up to date release of your GPU drivers? I would bug report this if you haven't already. I think this may be related to, or a side-effect of "The sun is not always occluded by planets." bug listed in the Known Issues. --- Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! |

The problem, as I see and have reported it, is that the rings around planets that have them are not occluding properly. They flicker back and forth between having the part of the ring that should/should not be hidden be visible and not. To put it another way, some frames it shows the part of the ring that should be behind the planet, and sometimes it doesn't.

The problem I am referring to is more along the lins of the outer edges of the planets tearing, not so much with the rings. Rings shouldnt occlude anything really...all the rings are are asteriods circling a planet =P

Linkage
look at the outer edge of the planet and imagine that in motion, it looks as if the planet its pulling apart

Doesn't look like there is anything wrong in that image. If you're referring to the lighter band around the outside of the planet that is a lighting effect & it's either your graphics drivers/settings or your Eve settings causing it.
Only graphical issues with planets I've seen is the star & rings not being occluded properly as previously discussed in this thread. --- Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! |

Edited by: Misinformed soldier on 28/12/2006 16:53:55 I can see the issue on the pic above, a few cm's inside the outer edge of the planet right the way around. Ive got it too. Its easier to see ingame since it moves around.

Edited by: Starmonger on 28/12/2006 19:02:37 i get this aswell. i have seen others reporting this. also ocasionly you might see the sun shine through a planet if one happens to be in the way of a sun. The stations do something aswell but im not sure if it's the same problem or not. to me the stations have allways had bits flickering especialy the Ammar stations, wheras the planets thing has only happend after revelations. i think they made moons and planets bigger after revelations, dunno if that matters. ___________________________________________

Same problem here. After revelations, the rings around planets especially have clipping problems. I've tried it with 2 different video cards, an ATI x1600 & now a Nvidia 7950.

I get the exact same rings and sun non-occlusion problems. Tried the proper ATI catalyst drivers and the Omega drivers (which are 10x better btw) Both still display the same problem. I have tried tweaking everything in the drivers settings, and BIOS, and I mean I have done about 100 reboots... Still nothing seems to fix this problem..
I have got about 5-10 extra FPS outa my 9600 though [sig banned as it was just too damn good]
