Just wondered if the drop rate for Rig Components from salvaging has been changed again?
I've been away over christmas (24th to 27th) and i've not long since got salvaging Lv5, problem is i now seem to get less components with lv5 than i did with lv4 and on sum missions i've not had any components whatsoever when i used to get a reasonable amount. few days after the last patch when they upped the drop rate i did a assault guristas lv4 mission fo rmy amarr agent, i got loads of components, did it again today and got a few bits and bobs.
i was hoping to fit a coupel salvage rigs but are they gonan actually reduce my chance even more or not?

Could be just the type of mission npc you were salavaging from some aren't currently providing any salvage at all, an entire drone mission the other day and nada.

i have heard that drones wont drop salvaging goods since they always drop compounds, the nocs i normally have are sansha/blood from frig to battleship, did invasion not long ago (sansha) and that didnt drop much either from 11 battleships multiple cruisers/bcs and huge amounts of frigs (anyone whos doen t will know) whereas before i could build a couple rigs from the salvaged goods

Drones don't drop salvage because... well because CCP = brain damaged. Drones drop minerals instead of loot AND bounties. There is no reason they shouldn't also be salvageable.
Mission rats also vary a lot. Some missions none of the rats give salvage, other missions most do.

Edited by: Gamer4liff on 27/12/2006 18:31:03 Well I like to think of the reason drones don't drop salvage materials is because the constructs of drones are so different from our ships that there would be nothing we could use from them.
Or comedy option: they scuttle all their parts to keep us from learning their deep, dark secrets.
But anyway I've been salvaging plenty and it's still an incredibly profitable thing to do, especially with blood raiders.

yeah if i do a few missions a night i can easily build an armor rig quite quickly, i get severla large missions and on my day off i can do maybe 6-9 missions with sum serious mission grinding, could make me a bill easily if prices of appropriate rigs stays around 70-150mill (more for launcher rof ect)
i'm going to persists in salvaging and try a salvage tackle rig out and see if that works out any better, maybe i just go tlucky before and its my turn to be unlucky lol
as for drones gettign maybe a few for drone rigs would be cool from the Dominix sized drone npc's but as for the standard ones i think the amount of minerals u get is acceptable

Salvaging L4 here and I managed to scrounge 100+ salvaging components from the first two rooms of Retribution L4 - Angel Cartel last night. Seems fine to me.
Some missions have no salvage.
Navy, Drones, Mercs, and I think Mordus.

only pirate factions drop rig ingredients
that said; (cosmos) complex inhabitants are greatly nerfed
now, there's this little IGB site - all those interested in rig parts, get over there, trust it and add your statistics. best tool for comparisons

that seems to be the problem, lv4 is great i was gettign 100's per mission, i hit lv5 and i'm gettign about 30 - 40 for a large mission like vengence and invasion

I have the same problem since i hit level 5 salvaging. I noticed a signifiant reduction in my salvage amount on level 4 missions.

i live in 0.0 and from belt rats i get up to 20 components on the battleships - i really cant see any problems at the moment.
Come to low sec ( tiwce as much as empire or 0.0 4 times as much as empire) youre salvage 5 will continue to be of use.
Its just a way of getting u out of empire where missions dont drop any wreck materials really.
Youre call if u want the rewards u gotta take the risks

its not that i havnt ever gotten anythin, its the fact that since i have got salvaging to lv5 that i'm not gettin anythin, when i was on salvage lv4 i used to get what u just described, from a reasonable lv4 mission i could get a rigs worth or components, on that same mission 4 days later with salvage lv5 i'm getting as many components from the entire mission as i did from one ship.
its nothing to do with where i'm runnin missions its that i got salvage lv5 and then my components amount dropped very radically. my corp mate got salvage lv5 yesterday and he has just noticed exactly the same thing while he's done a couple of missions today. the day before he was gettign 100's from each mission with salvage 4 now he's getting quarter to a third of what he did after spending the 13 days to get lv5.

Edited by: Laughlyn Vaughns on 27/12/2006 20:31:31 well at moment it appears to be the case, i've got a coupel of my corp mates workign on a test, one has lv5 already and other lv4, they are both in the same system runnign missions with each other for same agents so what they gonna do is do one mission and let the lv4 guy salvage and note components, then work missions again until same mission comes along and let lv5 salvage and compare them.
i've just bought a salvage rig and i'm going to see if that increases my rewards, theoretically i shd have the 50% chance plus the 10% from rig so hopefully 55% (or 60% dont know how it works it out) that way i shud be leanign more towards gettign summat than not and it may break the bug (hey i'll try anything at present lol)

Petition for starters. Wasn't there a bug with Mining Foreman or some other leadership skill where L5 was worse than L4 for some odd reason?

yeah isnt it the mindlinks and other command modules and skills or summat? if u get the skill trained up then the skill and module cancel each other out, not sure if was resolved in revelations or not tho

I've been doing a lot of salvaging for my Corp, I've been missioning so I killed 2 birds with 1 stone, and the drop rate hasn't been that bad for me. I can't give you figures as all the components have been passed to the industrial side of the Corp but in the last week or 2 I've had a few thousand items.
I hate salvaging _______________________________

okok... there's these two exceptions from the rule... one small and one tiny... sry the rule of thumb still covers 99%

Too bad market history on the rigs aren't too promising, if anyone can easily build rigs from missions, and its mostly mission runners that uses rigs to begin with, it seems most people just build their own rigs.

MY OPINION is that drones are currently bugged/accidentally forgotten. 0.0 drones drop salvage, and they are rogue drones like mission and plex drones. I think the loot charts just haven't been filled in for those, so expect chips and artificial neural networks from drone wrecks soon.
(this is just my opinion, not based on anything CCP has said)

This does NOT include minor factions, such as Thukkers, The Seven, Mercenaries, bounty hunters, drones, etc etc...

I've not seen any drop in rig components since getting Salvage 5. Mind you, I don't run missions for salvage, but I have 50 units of salvage from 6 asteroid belts in a 0.5 system.
Things seem better than ever on my salvage front.

It was stated by a Dev that drones were supposed to have siginificantly better salvage than anything else. The reply was in regards to the new region, but it was a pretty blanket statement about drones IIRC.

Those 'minor' factions you listed, are not pirate factions.

I am not sure about level 5 as I haven't got there yet but what I have found so far is.
low level salvage you get more components, or apppear to but they are mostly the common stuff. Higher level salvage you get more expensive ones but less overall.
There may also be other factors in salvaging we haven't figured out yet.

Actually the trick is how the wreck is identified. If you scan it with the directional scanner and it shows a type of the form [faction] [size] wreck, it can drop salvage. If type just says 'wreck', then you'll either get nothing or scrap, depending on whether it is rat/structure or player ship. Useful if you're not sure, and I routinely check it on missions that I don't expect to drop salvage just to make sure.
