I have decided to start training for dreads and i can't decide which one to train for. Since dreads are very expensive and take an incredible amount of time to train for i want to make sure i train or something that isn't a heap of ****. --------------------------- Aimez- "oh ****, this is empire......."

The rule of thumb for training a Dreadnought is the train for the one that will help your Battleship the most.
If you fly Primarily Caldari, then you would train for the Phoenix because of the Boost BS5 gets the Raven, for example.

Also ask yourself what you are using it for.
If you'll be doing mainly POS seiging, the Nag is highly rated for its higher DPS, as is the Pheonix for its ability to select damage type. The Rev is noted for its tank, though this is less of an issue with increased HP - no POS can kill a single dread.
If you want to get into skirmishes with other ships, the Moros owns due to its incredible drone bonus and nice slot layout (triple faction web blaster moros is quite something).

Who's to say the OP didn't already have BS 5 but just didn't want to make such a financially big decision without knowing the facts about the dreads, Most people who decide to fly a Dreadnaught already have BS 5. Now you could then just say why not go for the one you're closest to because you already have BS 5 but its important to get the best one to some people. I myself do not know which is the best but I know that some are better then others in different situations so i'd suggest the OP describe the general intended use for the Dread for best answer.

if you're gonna be pos sieging, which is really the only thing the dread is really good at, i know you can do other things with it but in 99,9% of those cases a BS or CS or something is better, you'd best take a revelation, for the simple reason that it doesn't need ammo, which is a huge logistical advantage if you're gonna clear a system or a pocket of pos'

It doesn't really matter which dread you pick, despite what anybody says they are all pretty balanced in the end.
Pick which one looks best, or if you don't care about that pick the one that suits your current skills best. -----

Nag for DPS Phoenix for damage type Revelation for not using ammo and ubertank (not that it matters too much now) Moros for making support fleets/40man ganksquads cry. Imagine a domi on steroids. With fighters.

Moros can't use fighters IIRC.
You need a carrier for that. A Nosdomi with fighters would be pretty cool however -----

A moros doesn't use fighters, but 5 ogre II with the damage mod of a moros will do fairly similar damage as if it had 5 fighters.. so think of them as 5 mini fighters that only cost 1 mil ISK each. Feel free to do the actual math and dps comparison... I am far too lazy.
