Out of pure interest I have been wondering how one would go about building a capitol ship. Such as getting the required bp's. Also is it concievable that someone could build one solo?

Specifically a dreadnought since I'm thinking about training for one on my main most likely the Revelation.

anyhing can be done alone, but not easily, you buy a bpo for it but it doesn't take minerals, you have to make capital parts to make a capital ship, so you have to buy those bpo aswell, capital ships can only be made in >.5 so the nearest .4 or lower will have to do. Then you need to make each part from minerals befor getting enough to make a dread

It's not that hard. You need to look for the BPC for capital components on the contract system. Build the parts for it over time. Oh yeah you will need a BPC for the dread as well. This is absolutely do-able although it takes a lot of mining and a good amount of $$ for the blueprints.

So you can build a Capital Ship in .4 systems? I thought that Cap Ships can't fly in a .4 system.

They cant fly in 0.5

But Carriers and Dreads can jump into and out of .4s. So if you build one in a .4, then you can fly it out of there?
Sorry to be repetitive, I just want to be sure.

yes 0.4 and below are free space for capital ships to jump in.
if you are doing pure research and already planning on paying for charters and not being able to get soverignty you might as well just do it in 0.5 and be "safer".

If you're only looking to build one for yourself, you're really better off buying one. The BPOs for the dread and the components are very expensive.
