So, when I wrote to CCP to let them know why I'm quitting (my POS that cost billions of isk and took dozens of hours to assemble this past week was destroyed without being able to kill a single cruiser that attacked it and this is not fun... it is not fun to play a game in which a person cannot progress) he sent this response, telling me their reimbursement policy. Mind you, I never asked these people for a reimbursement. This person is simply so... illiterate? Condescending? Completely unaware of why this wouldn't be fun for me? All of the above? that he sent me their reimbursement policy by way of a response, and lectured me on game mechanics.
Hey CCP: I don't want it reimbursed. I want to play a game that is fun. I want to invest my time in a game where 50 hours and $145 can lead me to a sense of accomplishment. I'm sorry that you can't distinguish between that and wanting a reimbursement. I'm sorry for you that you can't understand how this situation wouldn't be fun for me. And I'm sorry for the people who keep getting conned into playing this game just long enough to get made into "content" for gankers and other assorted jerks.

Hi, my name is GM Arkken.
We are really sorry to hear about what happened to your POS. We are unfortunately unable to reimburse it as the loss took place within normal game mechanics. All items in the game are subject to the possibility of loss due to destruction in the normal course of conflict within the sandbox. For additional details regarding our reimbursement policy please visit:
http://community.eveonline.com/support/policies/eve-reimbursement-policy/
Feel free to contact us back if you have additional questions.

Wrong place to say you're quitting, wrong to put your GM/CCP message in the forum, ...just all around wrong.
.
To buck the popular trend, I began to Rage Start instead of Rage Quit.
...and every time I get another piece of Carbon, I know exactly what CCP is getting this Christmas.

Welcome to eve OP. And sorry to see you lose your pos, but thats how eve works, for good and bad. Gotta learn to either suck it up or find others to fly with.

If I told you:
"I play a game that cost me $45 in subscription fees. This week, I and 10 other people spent a total of 100 hours doing something. Then, just for lulz, some other guys decided to wreck everything we'd done in the course of a single afternoon, and none of the work we did made any difference at all nor helped advance or game at all..."
Would you say I was describing a fun game that people should play? Of course not.
I understand that "that's EVE" etc... And that's the problem. It's a bad game. And it's even worse that the people running it don't even understand how that's a negative experience, as evidenced by the ridiculous e-mail echange I had with one of the GMs.
Don't worry. I'll get bored with complaining soon. I just need to find a good game in Steam upon which I can spend the money that CCP will no longer receive from me.
Best,

Scholar, you are not entitled to success in this game. It's not enough to simply grind your way forward, but you must be prepared to defend your assets to prevent other players from forcing you back again. That is the game that has always been sold in EVE Online. You can either accept that or quit.
Obligatory IBTL.

I think there's a pretty vast gray area between "we hold your hand games" and a game where the space station that I personally spent 50 hours and 3 billion ISK building can't kill a single VNI that's attacking it.
But I understand that it makes you feel good to call me a scrub, etc... I know you think the world of yourself for being good at EVE. So I'm glad you have that in your life.
As you watch your game dwindle away to the point that you have nobody left to speak to this way, now you'll know why.
Also, if you'd like to continue this abusive tone with me, send me a private note and we can have that conversation in person.
Thanks,
SN |

If somebody wrecked your pos in a afternoon you should have put some stront in it
It is technically impossible to destroy a competent persons pos in a afternoon
People like you are the major problem in online games now anyway
You feel like if you cant win its because of game mechanics instead of the fact you and your buddies are just a bunch of retards who don't know what your doing
Instead of crying learn from it and try again but if this makes you quit you weren't meant for this game anyway |

It's known as EVE Online: A Terrible GameGäó for a good reason.
It's seductively pretty. Distractingly intricate. But it's also designed to wtfpwn the players, and test them. That intensity of emotion in response to losses is part of it. If you can't handle it, fair enough, run away. Or wallow in the nerdrage for a bit and then use it.

Offline modules, don't do jack ****.
You tried to play above your ability and payed the price. It happens in EvE, but you just forgot the one rule of EvE... "Never fly what you cannot replace". In this instance, we are talking about anchoring modules, that you clearly cannot replace since it made you rage enough to post this and submit a ticket.
You either move on, an experience wiser. Learn about your mistakes and become a better player.
Or you can whine about it on the forum and demand CCP for them to "fix" the game, so it makes it easier for you. You chose the latter option, so eventually you would quit EvE anyway. The game is just not for you and that is fine. But in the future, you probably should refrain from ranting about things, you clearly have no idea about. |

It had stront. When I realized that the guns, EWAR, and everything else didn't do anything at all and that, even if they couldn't kill it completely, I'd get to spend an entire day fixing it, I turned off the shields. That's not my idea of a good day. This isn't my idea of fun. Most of you aren't my idea of good people who I want to associate with.
And I could afford to replace it. Or I could've before I gave away all my ISK my corp members.
And this "Played above your ability!!" crap is nonsense. I've watched pirate corps lock down Amarr with two ships. This game exists for content farmers to screw people over and post killmails. It doesn't take a genius to see that this is why it doesn't retain players well.
Again, I understand that many of you base your feelings of worth on your ability to screw people over in EVE, and I'm glad for you that you have something in your lives to feel good about. But I'm not paying money and huge amounts of time so that you can feel nice about being good at something. |
