whats the difference between putting defenders in a rocket launcher, or standard launchers. I know that rocket launchers fire faster. so whats the upside of putting them in a standard? ------------------------------------------------- Long Range |

So basically, rocket launchers are the end-all for defender missiles?

as i understand defender missiles only 'work' against missiles being shot at you, but i could be mistaken as i prefer just to shield tank and sod it![Very Happy](/images/icon_biggrin.gif)

Ya, only NPC's can get defenders to go after ALL missiles. Player defenders tend to try really hard to get the incoming missiles from the person firing at them.
Oh, and as for the question... Afaik rocket launchers fire more often, but you can load less defenders in them. So the advantage to loading them into a standard missile launcher is that they would reload less often. ~~~~~~~~~ Caldari. It's so easy a Minmatar could do it. |

If the guy attacking you is using slow rate of fire missiles (heavies, cruises, ...), you better have a similar rate of fire for your defenders. Otherwise you have 3-4 defenders going for 1 missile which is just a waste of defenders.
Ideally, the rate of fire of your defenders matches the rate of fire of the attacker spouting missiles. Hard to anticipate though.

Two out of three defenders launched from rocket launchers will go inert because their target either already hit you or has been destroyed.
Assault launchers seem to be the most efficient way to go.
Capital torp launchers can fight incoming fire for like forever. ![Smile](/images/icon_smile.gif) --*=*=*--
The cause for this is not yet known, but we do have a possible fix in testing. by Sharkbait | 2006.09.20 |
