Me and my friend were trying to pirate yesterday, but failed miserably. We searched through about 10 low security systems and couldn't find any victims. The closest we came was an industrial on scanner at a belt. There were 3 belts right on top of each other so i couldn't tell which one and had to check them manualy. He docked before i found him. How do you guys manage to find targets? I was using the map to check for systems with people in them, but every time i went there either they were all docked or gone by then. Any advice would be welcome.

Point1: If you catch a ship on scanner and narrow it down to a group of belts make your first warp to the planet with those belts. The belts will be surrounding it making it really quick to narrow down the target to the individual belts their in.
Also start your scanning while your still coming out of warp so you can warp to them at the first possible moment you get to the planet, Should save you valuable time.
Point2: Dunno, all regions are different but lowsec Genesis has hordes of targets at the moment. Both carebear and flashy red ones.

Yes, if you want to scan for something always scan from the middle of things. So either the sun or first planet or if you want to scan in belts or moons go to the planet.

Thanks, that should make it go a bit quicker. I finaly found a ferox mining in a belt. My cap skills are not that great yet and i didn't manage to get him. I gave a big YARRR!!1! in local and took him down to armor, but i can't run both my scrambler and guns forever yet. I don't think he took it very well though... He called me a freak and had his corp try to kill me . I'm in a t1 frigate FFS have some balls . I'm thinking we'll probly try to join sniggwaffe once we meet the 2 week age minimum.

When carebears group up to kill a lonely pirate, its brave and good tactics. When pirates group up to kill a lonely carebear, its cowardly and blobbing.
This game really teaches you that opinions are relative, doesnt it?

Also, never Yarr in local, it will draw attention to you and/or scare your prey away. Rule of thumb is to keep quiet in local ------ An average Apocalypse has 737 times the momentum of a cruising boeing 737. Coincidence? |

I only found 11 targets tonight .Including a few BC's and a Tempest which all went pop because they didnt pay the ransom .I usually just gang with a few friends and 1 warps to first belt,1 to the last,1 stays on gate and 1 scans.

First things first, find out with a friend how many guns you can run with your scrambler active indefinitely. :)
Then, when you're wasting a target, activate all your guns and scrambler until you hit 30% cap.. then swap to however many guns + scram you can use at once.
GET YOUR CAPS SKILLS UP! Also, get Controlled Bursts trained asap. That'll help a lot too.

I did think of that one. The only other person in local at the time wasn't in his corp.

Why don't i think of stuff like that? Good idea about finding out how many guns i can run. I never thought about not using all of them. I do have controlled bursts lv3 and i'm already working on cap skills at the moment. I need them to use an MAPC anyway, so it works out.

Look on the bright side. You found alot more than me at least.

Another good thing to remember.
Projectile turrets = running modules longer.
I've always found them very usfull when doing a little pew pewing

Maybe later. At the moment i have lv5 laser turrets and no projectile skill at all. My cap goes down very very slow with my lasers and scrambler running. I'm pretty sure by the time my skills are high i'll be able to run everything with no cap loss.

I wanna fly with you in lowsec. We do all that 0.0 jazz together but it'd be neat to go up and pie it up together once in a while. Our corp still does it pretty often, actually. Hunting Privateers gets old after a while.

Your right. Most pirates have (or should have) quality setups and better pvp knowledge. Most industrialists (not carebears, they wouldnt be in LowSec at all.) know that "quantity has a certain quality of its own." Just be gratefull they got the clankers and the wherewithall to even come back. |

Quit yo jibba jabba fool! no supporting the smack talking anti pirates while I'm around.
Also never NEVER TALK IN LOCAL heres why: 1. They know your not afk 2. They know that they could be getting hunted 3. You end up befriending them. If you makes friends with the meat then all your left with is veggies and eventually you'll befriend them too and die of starvation since there is nothing to eat Sig Nerf - Cortes

My experiences as a noob pirate, having spent 4 weeks or so in the EVE universe:
1. Set a LONG route through low-sec 2. Don't spare systems less crowded. You might find some easy prey there (miners looking for a "safe place" in low sec, e.g.) 3. Get to know the other players operating in your region. Are they pirates, mission runners, miners? Playing solo or with friends (corps/alliance)? Newbies or experienced players? 4. Try hunting in systems/constellations which are accessible through high sec only,. There are fewer other pirates, and people mining/ratting are less cautious in most cases 5. Be fast. After having jumped into a system, check local and scan immediately. Image there is only one guy in the system, three belts are in range, and a Caracal shows at your scanner? Just randomly select a belt and warp in, with some luck you have scrambled him before he even noticed your arrival 6. Be courageous. Your ship is cheap and you don't have to fear to be podded 7. Be patient 8. Be patient 9. Be patient
Greetings Nore

Bah, i'm retarded. I had been wandering around looking for a "customer" all day and had no luck. I found a coveter, but he was prealigned and warped instantly when i showed up. I also found an osprey who undocked from the station i was at as i was scanning. I followed him to the next system, but some other pirate got him first. I saw his wreck on scanner at a belt. I saw him first! Then i got followed for a few jumps by my old buddy in the ferox and 2 of his friends. I met up with some people from sniggwaffe and we went around looking for a while too. Still no luck. They eventualy left, but i wanted to stick to it for a while. The only 2 targets i found both got away and by this point i was willing to try just about anything. I found a bestower at a belt and thought it was finaly time for my first kill. I warp in and it took me a sec to find him cause he was a few km behind me. I was pretty desperate at this point so i went ahead and started over to him. Right as i locked on i was thinking "Hmm, this is odd. It better not be a trap." and at that exact moment a rifter warped in and scrambled me. I got owned pretty bad hehe. Only my second day of piratING and i got piratED. I opened a convo and told him good work and we talked a bit. Apparently i forgot to change my clone location and now i have to fly about 23 jumps to get back. Today kinda sucked. I might try that bestower trick later myself though.

ABout the befriending thing... If you are cold hearted like me in this game then you become friends with him, gang him eventually, warp to him and kill him
Guy put bounty on my head for that one but had decent loot :D
