The dead horse I refer to is the issue of systems getting stuck, and CCP STILL not having a way to reset a single system, and are unwilling to restart the server regularly before down time. This is a very old issue but we are a long way into this retail release and its time for the stuck systems to either happen a lot less or have a quicker sloution than down time.
Some say the SQL servers take up a load of a given set of things, like a system or a number of systems or services. As I understand it the system can't shunt the work load to other coputer to fix problems unless all players are out of the system. I think Red Button called this dynamic load handling. It was supposed to be done at release.
Anyway, here I sit in gehi, with all 8 of my accounts stuck on thanksgiving. I was really wanting to play. If you use gehi for your business in the 0.0 regions nearby there arn't a lot of alternatives. I understand mabey gehi dosn't merit a server shut down, but on the other hand how many people are losing out on a day of game play for a problem that should have been priority number one for a long time now.
So lets beat this dead horse a bit more, just becuase we are cruel bastards. Tell us your stuck storys. When was the last time you got stuck, how long was it for? How many hours of play time a month are you losing to being stuck? I'd say I lose about a days worth a month. If you dissagree with any part of this chime in.

Oh! I ment to do that:P I was just sort of hoping it would work itself out. Foolish I know. I also don't have anything to do, if I can't get into Gehi I am done for the day, so I figured no loss. It should be worked out when the server comes back up.
P.S. Where have you been Lola I miss your Beta testing expertise, you were the most knowledgeable person about Eve I knew. Miss having you around to ask absurd questions:P

I've not been stuck in over 2 months and when I was it was for about 40 mins. I guess I'm lucky.

Well, I've just tried to get a hold of my chars in gehi for a couple of hours. No luck... Buggers me a bit since my main char finished training skill for an hour or so ago, and now I can't set it to a new skill... :/

I've never been stuck. Find things to do in places other than 1.0 with the 30 newbie alts and 50 people running agent missions and you will quickly find the problem disappears.
Of course, maybe if CCP gave us something more to do elsewhere, people would be more keen on spreading out and the highway systems wouldn't be so clogged with pilots.

No, it just becomes less common. I was stuck a few days ago in a 0.0 system down in JK-FIX. It's not just the crowded areas...
Granted you WILL get stuck more in Luminaire, but if everyone stayed in 0.0 space where would the Tech 2 BPs come from after the patch?

Lola EVE really doesn't have 30,000 players, we have about 10k with an average of 2 - 6 accounts per player.
Alota ppl buy more accounts to make up for each mining nerf. LOL, for some reason CCP doesn't understand this. They moved all minerals of value to 0.0 space since we were advancing to fast. It really didn't work. Players just bought a 2nd account and continued to mine same amount of isk and advancing at the same speed.
So CCP bugs the roid spawns, messes with the SS system, and makes the rats more dangerious so we start losing ships and megacyte becomes ultra rare and prices go up. So to compensate ppl just buy a third or forth account, or the ppl still with 1 got a 2nd.
Most of the ppl I know have multiple accounts. CCP seem oblivious to the fact that when one person says their quiting they are losing 2 - 3 subscriptions.
This is also why all their nerfs, to screw over our advancement, are never gonna get anywhere and are just going to hurt the teenage players, like myself, who can't afford to pay 60 bucks a month (4 accounts) to play a video game. Because this is probably going to be the needed number of accounts to keep our current flow of isk coming after this mining nerf, especially if the nerf is going to be the removal of container mining.
Truthfully it seems like some excuse to force a little more income out of an already small player base.

First 8 accounts wow an Eve player dream:) its impressive.
And second i am nearly all time in 0.0 for 2-3 month i think , wich short trips to sell minerlas to center systems.Have been stuck once in 0.0 , was very surprised, and think 1-2 times in center systems.
Still i get unstuck very quickly max was 2 hours , one was under 20 minutes.
So staying in 0.0 is safe .... for this issue and I am surprised you got your 8 char stuck as i get unstucked so quickly.

stuck systems dont bother me much. ok, i lose a couple hours of playing, darn. go make an alt and have fun blowing up people's mining containers or something.
