Hey there,
A few months ago the community was very kind to gelp me pick a new TFT - mission complete :)
Todays mission is to pick out the new computer bearing in mind I know nearly nothing about most of this - Will most likely buy from Dell, unless someone else can reccomend another supplier that is simple.
My main dream of this amchine is to field two monitors, which I now have. Is it necessary for me to have dual graphic cards 256 x 2 or one bad boy??
Also dual core processor and 2 gig of ram is a target. Please share your expertise and let me spend my cash.
Thanks Covert.

Make sure you get the new intel dual core exxxx series. They pwn. You don't need 2 graphics cards for dual monitor either. But it helps to have a good one so you can run stuff easier.

Dunno what budget you have? but if it's tight get a system based around an Intel E6300, one of these with a decent mobo and cooler will be able to clock upto Extreme edition spec, if your budget is a little bigger go for an E6600 which should be able to go even higher, as far as the gfx card goes i would go for a single card at the minute until at least the second generation of dfx 10 cards are out just make sure you have a sli or similar mobo so that you can upgrade.
and finally FFS dont go for a dell, just find a small retailer nearby (ask your friends for recomendations) and get them to build one to your spec. that way at least if anything does go wrong you dont have to travel far to shake them vigourously by the throat

Thanks for the reply. Ive read alot of negative stuff about Dell, However Ive been buying dell the alst 10 years and from my own exp none of it has ever broken. Im not a fool and appreciate the feedback.
I don't know of any local retailers In NI, Would like it to between 1-2k and last me the next 5 years (that would be quite nice)

first tip: NEVER EVER EVER buy from dell if your building a gaming/expensive machine, you end up paying WAY more then you should. if you cant build it yourself try ibuypower.com or cyberpowerpc.com as they have some very well priced machines.
second tip: do your research, shop around for the best price/support, see how each component sizes up with the competetion
recommendations are: core2duo intel chip (E6600 is a beast) nforce motherboard (perferably SLI compatible for upgrades in the future) 2 gigs of DDR2 ram 8800GTS or GTX graphics card (can run 2 monitors at res with ease + DX10 compatable) sound card of choice HDD of choice(7.2kRPM drives are HUGE and cheap with decent read/write times, 10kRPM drives have quite a bit faster read/write speed but expensive, smaller and usualy LOUD when read/writing) beefy power supply, id recommend 750W minimum for the above system
send an evemail to me and il help you shop around based on more details

DOH got any friends who know how to build/setup PCs? if you have one willing to help you assemble/setup one just buy the parts online.
if not just shop around for a UK version of those sites, theres bound to be at least 2 or 3 of them that are similarly priced.

my personal opinion is that dell are absolutely rock solid machines, that never break. however, much like rocks, they're clunky, and rarely have a diamond in 'em.
I'd honestly say that, unless you're going for bargain-basement minimum spec machines, building your own is a far more cost-effective way of getting a monster of a PC for the same price you'd pay for a hell, sorry, dell, or the likes.
it's no-where near as scary as you'd think... (though I was looking at the motherboard from an old 486sx a few weeks back, and the small forest of jumper settings were enough to give me flashbacks to the old days of true horror.) as long as you get the right bits - ie, right memory for the motherboard, right CPU, etc, most of it will go together dead easy, and it means you can choose to have a nice case, instead of a beige or black tin.
dual graphics cards (SLI/x-fire) are not a pre-requisite for dual output, either, so don't worry about that.

Motherboard
Will this work with case:
case
Naturally this is a large task, I assume everything will fit?
Now if im correct which i hope i am, my processor comes with a gig of ram and 2 free slots and 1 slot for a graphics card?
What esle should I start worrying about?

A proper 500W+ PSU would do tbh. Running 8800 in SLI, however...
Edit: That case might have problems fitting newer cards (GF8800/7900 & Radeon X19x0 might not fit at all, judging by the clearance between motherboard tray and the hdd-case).

With the 8800GTX in my cooler master centurion case it fits but barely and you cannot have a hard disk in the drive bay opposite the PCIe slots,
My rig,
8800 GTX (MSI) 2GB DDR2 Core duo 2 (6400) stock cooler, can overclock it easily to 2,75 but haven't a need to yet, 80GB Sata 2 HDD 80GB IDE HDD (music) 580W Hiper PSU blue MSI platinum 975X Sony DVDRW
Very quiet and very quick and not 2 expensive in the grand scheme of things. Would recommend it to anyone

My rigs based around a c2d X6800 Extreme Edition cpu and a ati X1900XTX gfx card, currently i'm running a 650w psu and am seriously considering upgrading to a galaxy 1000w one as soon as i have the תתת

Is it "650" or 650 watts? There's a definite difference. Look at how many amps you get on 12V rails, many PSUs push out a lot of their total power on the 5V and 3.3V rails which aren't that important anymore.
