I've been working my way towards Interceptors, just have a couple days left on Frig V. I was running around Empire the other day picking up skills, when I notice that according to the market, I already have the prereqs for Interceptors. Confused, I decide to go ahead and train level one to see if it will let me, and it does. So, I figure they changed the prereqs for Interceptors and my Evemon hadn't been updated. I go buy a Crow and a Raptor, and see that I still cannot fly them, as they require Frig V.
Is this the only ship skill in the game that you can have trained to whatever level you want and still not be able to fly that ship?
Understand, I'm not whining or *****ing, I'll have Frig V in a couple days regardless, I just found it odd.

AFs and HACs too.
In fact, I think all t2 do. You can train for the ship, and need the racial frig to a higher level than your have.
And destroyers, and battlecruisers. You could have the book and be unable to fly anything.
In fact, everything that doesn't say the race name in front of it :/

Just look at the required skills for the Crow? You'll see that Frig 5 is not a prerequisite for the Interceptor skill, but the ship itself needs it.

For the skill it self it does not require w/e frig/cruiser at a certain level.
Since these skills are universal meaning no amarr inty, no caldari inty, no gallente inty etc. It is just inty. Same with HAC's and AF's.

Its like the battle cruiser skill. With the battle cruiser skill, you still need a racial skill for that ships race.
CCP could just make all ship skills racial, but its quicker training in the end for those who like to fly all races stuff. What ever I say is my own views and not of my corp. |

Destroyers, battlecruisers and T2 ships are ALL that way.
You can train the generic skill without any racial prerequisite, yet you still need a certain level in the individual "racial" ship skill to fly a specific one. _ My skills | Mod/Rig stacknerfing explained |

t2 drones also require either scout drone to 5 or heavy to 5, but you can train the skills without either.
